My long awaited 3500 CTD order has been well documented here. Making my daily after-lunch check of Insight, I discover that it has actually moved. Since we are only 80 miles from the port, I think today could be the day, if it moved in the correct direction! Later in the afternoon, I call the dealer and it has arrived! I tell him I'll get in to see it before dark if possible. When the salesman retrieves the shiny silver CTD, I don't need sunlight to see a problem... I ORDERED A SWB AND ITS A LWB!!!

The general manager pulls my file and sees the build sheet that I signed and sees the code for the SWB and immediately reaches for his mouse to begin searching. Somebody obviously screwed up after I left the dealership that day in October.

I hope that DealerConnect files and online inventory are up to date! I studied several trucks after going home to try to calm down and I think I have one located I'll be happy with. I'll keep the group posted!

OUCH !!!

If you don't ABSOLUTELY have to have a SWB, have you considered how much lower a price they would have to go to convince you to take it ?... just a thought...

October to now was a looooong wait !

Trade

Sorry to here about your dealers screw up.

From what I see around Minnesota, if a dealer has a 600, they can trade it VERY easily. I don't think they will have a problem getting a new one for you. Or selling yours if they can get one without a trade.

Remember, this truck will be with you day in and day out for a long time. DON'T take the lwb if it isn't exacly what you want.

I agree with Eric. Don't settle. What a shame that is. It has to really disappointing! I really feel sorry for you.

I agree. IF the dealer wants your business, is SHOULD make it right. Either a lower price IF you decide you want the truck, OR he should locate another truck for you - even if it means finding one on the other side of the country, and having it drop shipped in.

Keep the screws to him.

That just made me sick. I can imagine how bummed out you were after waiting all that time. Are you sure they weren't playing an April Fools' joke on you? That would be a helluva joke...

Mine was ordered with the "H" option package. It was built with the "G" package. I took it and got some money back... . :(

SRW's are nice for parking and driving around town, but for the long haul, and if you tow, the LWB is in my opionion better.

I test drove an SRW, but my heart is set on the longer wheel base. It's easier to put 7 1/2 foot wings in the back and close it up and keep them from flying on their own. Shell included of coarse. Don't need more lift, just more speed.

Let us know what happens.

I agree with KD7GYJ (except for the SRW part :D )

LWB are much more versitle. SWB seem mostly for looks (whooosh, duck incoming flame)

Perhaps this is a blessing in disguise - work'em, tears and all. Be a nice guy and help them out by taking it off their hands for $KACHING :D

Yea, Milk 'em for all it's worth. Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained. The worse you can do is walk away from it. You could really grind it in that they fouled up royally. Then tell them you'll take it off their hands for invoice less 3% plus discounts plus farm bureau discount, plus 0% financing for 60 months. Let 'er rip..... :D :D :D

Being 2 Demanding

I think I would take a stiff stand on the issue of the dealer getting you a new truck on a trade. But I don't think I would go pushing the $ issue. The dealer may just tell you to get bent. He will have zero problem selling your truck for over invoice. Get the truck you want on a trade and see if he will throw in some sevice calls or something. But I think if you push too hard, you may be waiting for another truck on order.
