You may recall my thread about the fragile nature of Dodge's paint. I originally ordered patriot blue, but changed to white, because at least the chips would be white too. Dealer called, and truck is on the lot. Just one problem, it came Patriot Blue, not White. Dealer offered to throw in a sliding rear-window (which I also ordered when I changed color to white, but also didn't get applied to the truck) for free. What do ya'll think?

Hmmmm.....

If the truck you ordered did not show up--are we sure this was the one that showed up in its place? I distrust all these dealers... hopefully this isn't one that was sittin' around that got dinged or something and they wanna dump it... If all is well, then strictly your choice of color--me, I'm with you, next one is white. My black one is too much to care for.

Let us know what happens... ...

Let's see... . you're paying somewhere around $35,000 or so for a vehicle and you think a $120 window will make up for a major thing like color that you chose?? To my way of thinking, that doesn't even come close... .

You may want to check the manufacturing date and engine serial number to see if it is one that has the engine recall(bad cam) or the pump problem. Once you determine it is not one of those get the dealer to give you the warranty that gives you a replacement vechicle for repairs along with the window. It is very low in cost. Offer the dealer a total of 1K (including the 3% holdback) for not getting the rear disc brakes on the new production trucks.
The one he has will be very difficult to sell when the new trucks begin rolling out but it gives you an opportunity to save a few bucks if you want the truck. Good Luck

dmurdock,

If it were 'my' truck and it didn't arrive with the color I had ordered, I would refuse it. #ad

When we decide to buy something as expensive as this $33,000 toy, we know what we want and we'll keep it for many, many years so we want it to be EXACTLY what we ordered. A $120 option is NOT worth the aggravation of having the wrong color.

just one more opinion..... #ad

DM, go look at the window sticker and see if it has your name on it. If your name is NOT there then this truck was not ordered for you. Yours may still be on the way. You had wanted the blue, so now that there is a blue one sitting there what do you think?? Does it trip the ol trigger?? Regards Pete

My '96 had a slider, my'00 does not. In the years that I drove the '96 the rear sliding window was used 2x - once by the guy trying to break-in, once by my navigator to crawl into the bed and piss into his empty 'Big Gulp' cup because I wouldn't pull over - we were pulling the race car trailer and had just passed 5 or 6 motorhomes on a long uphill #ad
He tossed the 'contents' of the cup overboard - no problem, it was his trailer.

Skip the slider - it's not worth it. If there are no problems w/cams or lift pump then MAYBE take the Patriot Blue if the dealer will comp a 100K extended warranty.

UPDATE:

Thanks everybody for the advice (once again this site pays off!).

After thinking long and hard, I have decided to take the truck. This is due mainly to the fact that PBlue was the color I really wanted in the first place, but got scared of. Additionally, thanks to ya'lls advice, I'm still getting the slider,+ 80k bumper-bumper, and $400 more off, taking this rig to about $500 under 32k.

I'm satisfied... once again, thanks!
