I had to get my front axle u-joint replaced, and didn't have the time to do it myself... i am a mechanic working lots of hrs... took it to Gainesville dodge.

They charged me 120 for the u-joint and 450 for the hub bearing assy. and a total of 975 inc labor. .

I feel like they should have used a little lube. :)

Just venting... hate paying list for parts. .

Tony,

On one of my trucks we paid under $45 for the Joint and under $200 for the hub. . it was an 05 3500 dually 4X4

i know they are cheaper... i usually do the work myself. Since i got rid of my business, i don't have a garage to do the work at now... I hate paying for things I know how to do. . but sometimes, you have no choice... They fixed it while i was at work.

For the repairs that you can plan for (hub assemblies, u-joints, etc. ) source your parts from RockAuto.com. BCA/National brand 4WD hub assembly is $230 and SKF brand is $269 each.

Those same parts at NAPA are $380 each and they're $450 at the Dodge house.

Of course, the killer is the labor but at least you can start getting parts cheaper. I just replaced all four of my tie rod ends with parts from Rock Auto and it was $220 delivered to my front door. One Sunday afternoon in the garage and a $69 alignment and I'm good...

I had to replace some sensors. particularly the fuel pressure sensor. dodge wanted 600 bucks! Thanks to TDR i found a place selling exact cummins part for a third of the price!
