took my truck back this morning and told the tech that i didn't have any pressure in my gauge. he said let me get my scan tool and recheck it. he came back and said it was in use and he would

have to check it later. i came back around 4 and he told me that he learned some things today. he said that he followed the service manual in checking for low pressure. i have the service book and it says to use a DRB scan tool along with a periphal expansion port module and a 0-15 psi transducer. they didn't have a 0-15 transducer but a 0-500 psi one. this is the one that read the 10#'s. he agree with me that it wasn't the right way to check. he also said that with the truck running good and fuel was flowing that it must be creating the right psi's. he still couldn't figure out why my gauge read zero. thankfully he called the star center and explain to them what he was seeing. they told him that it this truck will run without a lift pump. and that it might not show any psi and still run. seems that the vp44 pump can create enough vacum to suck fuel right out of the fuel tank. this might explain why the lift pump is not closer to the fuel tank. seems to me that the vp44 pump is sucking so hard on the fuel that no extra fuel can go any where else but to the pump. he also had the test port off and saw nothing coming out. he apoloized several times for being bull head and stuborn and not believing my gauge. bottom line is he said was i needed a new lift pump.

asked if i can take my truck and he said sure if it will start. it did only after i had them pressurize the fuel tank. not sure when the lift pump will be in, couple of days. not sure i'm going to have

them do it. need to get one tracked down. the dealer is not prompt on calling when parts come in. always call them. and i need my truck next weekend cause i'm getting my DTT vb tc and up grade kit put in. also this saturday the new bfg at ko's 285-75-16 are going on.

thanks for the replys

Finally Huh

I am very sorry to hear about your experience at the hands of your dealer. My dealer here in Lake Havasu City replaced my lift pump at about 17,000 miles after testing with a 15 psi gage and it read below the min. specified by Dodge.

I never could tell any difference in the way the truck ran but it MUST be better for the injection pump to be FEED fuel instead of trying to SUCK it up from a tank 10' away.

Congratulation - that's one more for an owner :)

I must apologize for my some what snotty reply in the other thread about the dealer not being able to read pressure with the scan tool. I am familiar with the pressure transducers that hook to a Fluke meter, and didn't stop to think that they may also use one with a scan tool.

That said, it is very bad for the vp-44 to be in a high fuel restriction to the inlet situation. - A Johnson

lift pump........

i will be picking up and installing a new lift pump tomorrow.

i'm not going to wait another 7-10 days for the dealer.

will let the new one come in to them and try and get it for a back up. if they don't give it to me then SCREW them!
