Dealer Voiding Warranty?

Many of you on here state that you do not let the dealer touch your trucks unless they absolutely have to or there is a recall issue. I was going to take my truck to a " Rear Differential Diesel Specialist" to have them fix my little noise that the dealer is shrugging off as " Normal". The Gentleman said that he would be happy to do the work, but feared that if he touched it, the dealership could completely void my warranty. I really don't want this to happen as I paid for the extended warranty as well. Does this mean all of you just give up your factory warranty when you take delivery of a new vehicle??

The common axiom heard here after you modify your truck is "I am my own warranty station". The dealer can try to void your warranty for the part in question, but can't void your entire warranty because of one thing. What is does do is give the dealer an excuse to refuse warranty work, and you will have to take the initiative to push the process through and force them to do it.

The issue is after he works on it he will be the responsible party and offer his warranty on his work. D/C will not warranty an aftermarket shops work. Go with your gut,your truck,your money.

Well if he thinks what he has to do will void the warranty it probably will I would assume some sort of machine work or replacement with aftermarket parts.

You are at risk of losing that part of the warantee.

The motor/trand /air/heat/ radio and the rest is still under warantte.

If the dealer says different, tell them you want it in writing.

Has the dealer had the diff open? If so and you /someone else does, how will they know?

I am with fox, how would they know?? I guess if I ever had another problem and they found non MOPAR parts in there??? Who knows. . I just want it done once and for all. It seems better. I am either getting used to it, or it's finally breaking in... ifshe blows, I still have 66,000 more miles of warranty! LOL

With my '97 I had the dowel pin problem with 10 days left on warranty. Contacted a dealer that would sub-let the work to Dave's Diesel in Angola. Everything was taken care of by DCX warranty. Maybe you can remedy your problem in this manner.

It seems fine now. . barely could hear it on the way to work... Going to change the rear diff fluid eventhough it has only been 2,000 mi. I was told to do this as the break in " Stuff" gets all clogged in there! THanks!
