Yankee or Dixie? Test

SCO Sues DaimlerChrysler, AutoZone

Stoped by a dealer last night to see if there were any 3500's on the lot to just look at ... . not one and not one diesel.

The guy said ... now get this ... that a huge load of the 3500/2500 with the new diesels fell off a cargo ship in the Atlantic and that is why virtually no dealership in the North East has any diesels on the lot.

Sounds like a fish story to me ... anyone heard of this excuse lately?

First off why were they even on a ship ..... IN THE ATLANTIC!?

Seccond Why were they on a ship?

Third ... ... . Did I mention why they were on a ship?

domestics move by train, not ship, dealer is freeding you a huge line of bovine waste products, his ordering guy forgot to order any

Hey it might make a nice new artificial reef... . but it will be a bad place to fish...

The Dodge CTDs will attract the really smart fish (the ones who completed school). The smart fish won't bite.

Go find a "furd" reef to fish at.

If they were made in Mexico they have to moved by ship to the Northeast, don't you know?

This is why I hate car salesman... ... ...

What a crock that he or she (correctness for those easily offended) was tying to shovel. If in fact the trucks took a swim then I am sure that someone here would have heard of it before a joker at a dealer would have. A member here would have made a splash (sorry:D ) with a headlining thread about a story like this. That saleswoman was just fishing (ouch:-laf )

Too bad they wern't Fords.

Actually, I think there was a thread in the 3rd gen forum about a member who's truck was lost in a ship incident, so it could be true, but the main reason that you don't find 3500's on the lot is that the dealers don't order them.

Mine is due into Port of Baltimore? I honest did think it was coming by ship.

I agree that this is a line of bull, but I do think some of us east coasters get it shipped - literally.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong?

After thinking about this, it just might be possible. Although I am still leaning on the BS side. I bought mine in Denver and was shipped by train from Mexico. Train seems like a cheaper way to do this.

Boat load of something???

Scott, you are correct, your truck, will arrive in Baltimore by boat. THis is why us "northeasters" are getting our trucks later than others built at the same time. MOST of the Mex built trucks come up by rail through St. Louis. Don't know why, but a lot of the eastern seaboard dealers get their trucks by boat.

Mine was railed to the mexican gulf coast and loaded onto a boat that landed in baltimore and was sent to a yard on the DC beltway, where my dealer picked it up.

I'm actually very suprised that you haven't heard anything about your delivery. You should call the DC customer hot line, and with the VIN or VON, they will tell you the last place it was bar coded off or on a transport. They can also give you an update on schedule.

(I called them every week)

OK, Ok, ok... . so some are getting to dealers by boat. Does'nt change the fact of the saleslady shoving crap stories... I know someone on the TDR would have been able to find the facts and confirm a story like this... . it would have made the news... surely a serious news network like CNN would have covered it. If not for the newsworthy aspect, it would have been covered to the delight of enviro- wackos rejoicing in "alll those polluters" taking a dive.

Swexlin- Any word on your truck. Mine was due into the port of Balto. today also. Called Chrysler, they said it is still "in transit" (since 2/2). Stopped by the dealer this afternoon. They looked it up on their computer, and the las update was that it was loaded onto the boat on 3/2 witha new expected delivery date of 3/16. This is the third postponement of delivery dates in 3 weeks.

I have been keeping pace with the Insight site. Originally, my truck was due into Port of Baltimore today, 3/3, then at dealer 3/15.

Now I'm pushed back to Baltimore on 3/9, with dealer date of 3/16. Left Vera Cruz 2/27. Don't know why I got pushed back.

Chrysler does seem to have a problem getting these things to dealers.

Swexlin- are you sure your truck left on 2/27, or was it only loaded onto boat then. I can't imagine two boats leaving fron Veracruz to same destination within days of each other. Also, what is the insight site you spoke of? Is this the dealer's computer site? Thanks for any info.

TPC- My friend has a boat with a GOOD fishfinder, do you think it would work as a truck finder?

Needless to say ...

... I would not want to do business with someone who comes up with a lame excuse like (trucks falling off the boat) for the lack of 3500's and/or diesels on the lot (Allen Mello Dodge in Derry N. H. )
