Dear Dodge,

How long will you keep us waiting for a Mega-Cab long bed? I cann't put a rear facing child seat in the back seat of my Quad-Cab and I won't give up a long bed. Your forcing me to go to a Ford. I've got an appointment on Friday with the Ford Dealership Fleet manager to take a look at the F350's and the F450. Why cann't you build what we want? All we want is a real crew-cab and a long bed, please tell me your coming out with it soon before its to late. I'll need a real crewcab long bed by April 2008, please build it, we'll buy it!!!!!!!!

And make sure it'll haul *** and a 18,000 pound toy hauler. Dodge you use to be the best but now I'm wondering:{

My son has no problem getting a front facing and a rear facing car seats on his 04. 5 3500 SRW Quad Cab long bed Dodge. The rear seat on my 05 Quad Cab is also big enough.

This all aside, when will Dodge get a clue and make a longbed MC?

Considering that we will be getting a new body style in the 2009 or 2010 model year, I'll go out on a limb and say never. Indications are that the Megacab will be history, a new 'crew' cab is coming and a quad cab will also be available... no idea if the new 'crew' cab will be offered with a long bed though. All rumor at this point in time.

If your car seat has a base that is removable, remove it. I had to do that in my Ford Excursion to keep the baby seat from hitting the front seat when it was all the way back, or put the seat in the middle. Its a real pain to load the kid in and out when there in the middle but its a small price to pay to save what your going to loose when you trade in for a new truck.

I'm still in disbelief that Dodge is being so stupid and not making the Mega-Cab with a longbed, or offer the Mega-Cab in a chassis cab configuration. Besides the rearfacing child seat the rear seat is just not that comfortable for adults or my nephews, oldest is 15, who are all growing up very fast. I know about the conversion but would have a hard time buying a new truck then have to turn around and spend more money to have it stretched when I can go buy a crewcab Ford, Chevy, or GMC with a longbed.

When we bought the truck its was just the two of us but now we are looking at adopting several kids and we will need more room then the quad cab but I cannot give up the longbed, so it will probly be good buy Dodge in the next six months:{

Today I'm test driving the 2008 Ford F350 CC LB with the new 6. 4 and a F450 too. Hope I don't like them, I might buy this weekend:-laf

I have liked my Dodge but I'm not that brand loyal, we own a Toyota Camry, Ford Excursion, and a Chevy Blazer. Dodge really needs to offer more options.

theres a few dealerships that are working with the conversion companies so that you can buy a long bed MC right through them, one shot and that is it. Sorry, i dont remember what dealers. And I believe they being quite reasonable about it.

Dodge is not, "stupid", by along shot. They know exactly what they're doing. If they don't want to make a longbed MC they must have good reasons, like it may be too big to park anywhere, it may be too big to fit in any garage, it may severely alter the weight capacity design or it may cost them too much to retool for it.

Don't blame nor wait for Dodge to fix your needs. Go out and buy a Ferd. That's what you want anyway.

My Quad Cad LB won't fit in my garage as it is, so if I had the choice I'd rather have the Mega LB too. My 2 yr old sits behind the drivers seat, and pushes his feet on the seat the entire time we drive anywhere. It gets pretty dang old to feel that on road trips. I have 2 kids plus all the stuff they require to go anywhere, so don't give me the "move him over" line ;)

There is definately a market for the Mega LB or there wouldn't be people converting them, but a factory option would be preferable to me as well.

It's shear economics. How many trucks does Dodge sell?? What is their market share?? What percentage of their trucks are QC SB's?? You answer those questions and you'll see why Dodge isn't willing to invest money into creating an entirely new truck that IMO would be for a niche market.

The Mega Cab was/is simply a holdover until the new body styles come out. They used a frame they had and a bed they had and made a new rear cab section to fit. I'm almost positive that it completely disappears when the new trucks come out. What I fear is that Dodge won't offer their new 'crew' cab with a longbed... . historically, they've only had 3 frame lengths. One for the regular cab shortbed(1500 only) one for the regular cab longbed that also fits the quad cab shortbed and then one for the quad cab long bed.

It would seem to go outside of the Dodge mold for them to offer a regular cab, a quad cab and a crew cab with all available beds... I suppose that if the bed lengths were creatively sized, you could do that with 4 frames

at least for the moment, the rumor is that Dodge will be offering those three cab configurations and I've seen some pictures of camo'd up trucks sitting side by side and there are clearly two different 4 door models shown.

I just got my oil changed this afternoon at the local Dodge dealer and was taking to a salesman and he said they will have 4 door crewcab's longbeds as '09 models that will be almost be as big as a megacab but will be sized to fit under the total vehicle length allowed of 170'' inches that many states have before you need a CDL. He said that they have complaints all the time about not being able to get the mega cab long bed and Dodge is working fast to fix it.

how much ya wana bet this time around will be just like 02-03? 2009 will be the new 1500 body style, and 2010 will be the new 25-5500 models? :rolleyes:

That is what I did with my little girls rear facing seat. It was in a 01 QC and it was better so the passenger could attend to the baby without getting out of her seatbelt. -Jason

Yep thats what I did in my 01. Fits fine. Plus they are only in a rear facing seat for about 10-12months, if that (cant remember) before u turn it around.

My 5 year old and 2 year old fit fine in the rear seat of my 01 QC.

BUT I do like the looks of the Mega! That will be my next truck when the kids are out of their booster seats, I dont need a long bed though.
