Going through town,30-40 MPH applied the breaks and the shaking started.

Seems to be front end. Breaking seemed to affect the wobble but only stoped at slow speeds5-10?

I know I've seen this listed in the past but I guess I got into the (not broke don't fix) thinking but things change.

Replaced some ball joints last year so how about putting this thing on jack stands and check all front end components.

Im not a 4wd owner, however there are lots of threads on the site about this problem. if you are a member do a search on death wobble you will have hours of reading. good luck with it.

shake rattle and roll....

Warped brake rotors will cause a shimmy and shake when braking. Check trac bar by pulling and push on it, the use a pry bar to get leverage and see if anything moves. Jack the front end and grab the tires and see if there is any movement as well. The ball joints and tierod ends will fail and at 220k I would say got some mileage out of them thats for sure.

Goodluck

Dave :)

Thanks

Thanks Dave,

I will put this thing on Jack Stands this weekend to check what you said needs to be checked runout and Joint tightness.

All of the above and more

:{

Sorry to say

It's probably one or all of the following items in no particular order.

1) Rotors warped. (Keep those caliper pins lubed)

2) Worn track bar. ( I replaced mine with the DT unit)

3) Steering box. (DSS brace)

4) Ball joints.

5) Tie -rod ends. (I used Lukes Link's)

6) Steering shaft.

7) Steering stabilizer. (I use one similar to the one KORE sells. )

8) Pretty much every thing in the front needs to be checked.

9) Warped rotors will destroy everything in the front end!

PM if you need more help.

what would be the best rotors-at a cheaper price-be? In case we need to buy new ones. also-if I opted for a larger size rotor, would I have to change anything else on the brakes?
