My 96 and buddys 97 have had it off and on for years. Kind of a constant fight to keep front end, track bar, ball joints, shocks, alignment, tires, etc. in spec so it dont happen again. But i know it will. I hear the new models still will do it. So 1994-2006 and counting. I bet the 1st gens 1993 and down are less likely to do it because they have real leaf springs up front.

Any

ANY truck can get a "death wobble" given enough worn front end parts, i. e. bad ball joints, tie rod ends, worn kingpin bushings, missing or bad steering stabilizers, associated other stuff. :D

It just reared its ugly head on my brothers '96, I spent several hours searching here and it seems fairly rare on the '98-99 cross steer trucks, all other years seemed to be well represented

Do you have it on your '99? I have a wrecked '98 in the back yard I'm storing for a friend, I think I'll "borrow" the entire cross steer setup to try on the '96 :D

Leaf spring front ends get death wobble as well. I've had it on my '79 CJ-7 & '85 Toyota 4wd. My friends '79 F-350 (leafs & solid axle) has had it too.

My '96 2500 4wd CC LWB CTD never had it, my dad's '96 2500 4wd CC SWB 360 V8 had very bad DW until the caster was increased.

i had it on a 96 with a v10 just from a blown out steering damper, got really bad at 65 mph after a couple of bumps

I had a 87 Chev 2500 that was absolutely terrible. It scared the crap out of me. This truck has leaf springs, the last year that GM built a straight axle truck... I replaced the tie rod ends and this solved the problem. My Dodge wanders a little bit, so I'm figuring that sometime in the near future I'll need to replace some parts, but it looks like the previous owner had a bundle of steering components replaced. When i bought it, the steering pump leaked like a sive(sp), so I had the dealership replace it. It works flawlessly.
