What's the best way to get the dodge decals off the tailgate?? I got some Goo-Gone at Wal-Mart to remove the sticky adhesive, but how do I peel the lettering off?

Truck is only a week old, if I remove the lettering will there be an outline of the letters. I've seen some debadged trucks and when the light was shining right you could see where the DODGE and 4X4 lettering was on the tailgate.

1tuff-

I just got a razor blade and worked it underneath and edge. I kept going until I could grab the lettering by hand. It comes off real easily that way. DOn't worry about scratching the truck, if you lay it flat against the paint, then you can still get the lettering off.

You might have some outlining, but use the suggestions above to get the stickum off. Your truck might be a week old, but letters might have been there for a while longer.

I put some custom lettering on my truck and left it for over 2 yrs. Peeled it off and with some elbow grease the stickum came off. After several washing, you couldn't see any outlining.

I really like the 3M Adhesive remover. I just took the door emblems off my 3500 yestrday and it worked good. I started by using a hairdryer and a couple of plastic 'body putty spreaders' and used them to wedge behind the emblem. After I got the emblems off I doused the remaining foam adhesive with the #M stuff and used the plastic spredares to scrape it off. The plastic spreaders won't scratch your paint and work great! You can pick up a 3 or 4 pack of them at the auto parts store for under $2 also

Good old fashion rubbing Alcohol will work just fine for you. It's cheap and it works. And it eats up grease and oil if you need to clean anything like that.

Braided fishing line like Spiderwire works better than monofilament for taking off the badges. Use leather gloves, wrap a few twists around your hands and work it behind the badge like a saw. It is slick and WILL cut your hands if you don't use gloves.
