So I decided tonight @7pm that I'd wash the 'ol ram. After I was done, I broke out the hair drier the the Goo Gone and tried to debadge the truck. After 2. 5 hrs, I almost had one door emblem goop about 80% off. IT TAKES FOREVER!!! So if you choose to do it, budget ALOT of time. .

Just a heads up.

Debadging?

azcummins,

Did you gain another 20 HP by debadging your truck?:-laf I don't understand why anyone would want to debadge. Personally, I want others to know it's a Cummins making all that noise.

Did ya try dental floss?

azcummins,

I dont know if you tried this but it worked really well on one side of my truck and the other was a PITA. I ended up using gas to get the rest of the sticky stuff off. You break a lot of the floss but it saws it off once you get going.

I debadged mine on sunday. I pulled the emblems off, then sprayed the backing with wd-40. Then with a small piece of wood, I carefully scraped all the backing off. Then took gasoline and removed the adhesive. Then I cleaned the whole area with denatured alcohol and installed some decals I had made up. It took 1 1/2 hours total. I tried using a hair dryer to heat it up but it seemed to dry up the wd-40 and make the backing harder to get off.

I just did mine on a really hot day. I went to a sign/truck graphics shop with a little bottle and asked them for the stuff they used. Don't know what it was but it sure worked good. No smudges or glue residue left behind.

There's a product available at most art and drafting supply stores, and at automotive paint supply places, that works real well. It's basically just adhesive thinner. I've purchased it by the gallon and in quarts. It will remove most rubber based adhesives and it won't hurt the paint. Just go to one of these places and ask for adhesive thinner or reducer. Keep it on hand - works great for getting adhesive from price stickers and labels off just about anything. It won't hurt most plastics either.

3M Wax and Silcone Remove...

Works great, safe for the finishes I've used it on too. Read the precautions, the fumes are something else. (they rival brake cleaner)
