Decent floor jack?

Howdy, folks. I got out my old cheapo 4000-lb floor jack last night to see if it would work on the 2500. It has a 6" to 15" lift capacity, which seems like it would be enough. I slid it under tha axle and started jacking it up. The tire was almost off the ground when the jack just got impossible to move.



Any recommendations on size, model, source for a floor jack that will work well and be easy to use? I don't want to spend a fortune, but I also don't want to struggle, even if it is only twice a year when the snows go on and come off.

i've got a couple of 3 ton floor jacks in the garage for when working at home. and in a junk box in the bed, i've got a 12t bottle jack with a home made axle cradle on the end of it so it grabs the axles very securely...

I like the 3. 5 ton (7,000 lbs. ) floor jack I got at Sams Club to service my 03 dually. Good price too , still $59. 95. They also have a Heavy Duty 20 ton (40,000#) bottle jack for about $ 25. 95.



I use both often & no problems yet.

Also Costco carrys a 3. 5 ton. I like the safety factor of bigger cap than the 3 ton

hey I have a NAPA 3. 5 ton it's great I love it i use it for everything from my race car to my truck and it's under two hundred bucks this is a quality jack and I recommend to anyone that will use it more than a few time if you want the part # pm me and ill get it for you

Just looked at those jacks/stands on the Ultimate Garage. Not to be picky or anything but am I the only one in TDRland who thinks for that kind of dinero the welds on those jacks could be a whole lot prettier?

Make that three of us with this jack. One of the best values out there. I also recently got a 3 ton craftsmen jack and jack stand set for $69. It's not as nice of a jack as the one above because it's not a quick lift or whatever they call it (take a lot more pumps to raise it), however it did come with 2 three ton jackstands which are nice. Go to the sears site and sift through the options. In the stores they never have all of the options displayed.

I have yet to find a decent floor jack to lift the back of my truck. My dad has the 3. 5 tonn one from sams and it wont do it and my buddy has the one from sears and I broke it trying to lift the rear to do a break adjust. I think I will try a lincoln next. I have had very good luck with there bottle jacks.

Black-Smoker. I have 2 Lincoln-American floor jacks. An older one, made here and a newer one that is made overseas. Just had to have the older one rebuilt (seals) for $135. 00. The rebuilder said the older, US made, ones are much better than the overseas, Lincoln jack, models. I, also, asked if it was worth putting $135. 00 into an old jack when You can get a new jack for about 1/2 that price. He said it definately was. I'm not so sure. I've had this jack for quite a few years, but thought it would last longer before needing a rebuild. I only use it a couple of times a year. Thought it would last longer. When i shopped for a jack, I found the "made in USA" Lincoln to be over $500. I did not want to go Chinese so I ended up with the AC , I think its built in Sweden.

I've got the 3. 5 ton Craftsman Floor Jack form Sears. It came with stands, and was on sale for $99 when I got it. It was reg. $150. It works for me.

I have the same craftsman floor jack that i keep in my truck. Funny thing is it didn't want to work this weekend. Does the cold weather effect the hydraulic fluid? It did work eventually... but not at first.
