I just wanted to let everyone know how much I appreciate their help and advice. It is truly appreciated. Thank you all!

Look at what I got :) I'm happy with "him" [Rams are male sheep]

Definitely get the 6 speed. I can check here in Vegas for one meeting your needs if you want.

Presently, if you want to bomb, there really is nothing out there for the 325's. The more adventuresome are just starting to try. As far as I know, no manufacturer has yet to release anything for the newer set-up.
The TST POWERMAX is compatible with the new 325/600. Mark.

All right, OK, I know I tend to be somewhat empathetic! Don't like to ruffle feathers unnecessarily:D

This serves me well as Chairman of the Board!! BUT in an effort to avoid appearing indecisive I have resolved myself to attempt to be more assertive in the posts on this site!!:D :D I'm going to read a bunch of posts from some of the more "assertive" members in an effort to emmulate thier behavior. Any required reading suggestions? (I do have a few in mind). ;)

Back to the topic!

My point on the exhaust is that my '04 has no cat and therefore any exhaust system improvements shouldn't provoke the Authorities Having Jurisdiction, not just now, but also in the future. We have Aircare in BC for the lower mainland that has mandatory inspection of vehicle emmissions systems. If there is something missing or not functioning correctly, they make you put it back on or replace it. This program hasn't made it to the Interior, where I live, but I can see it coming. You may already have similar programs depending where you live. If not, you might soon. Just a thought.

Thanks fencebuilders. I've spent some time in Loomis.

I just really don't want the auto and the dealer has one on the lot and that's it.

Thanks Dave.

Mark.

A previous post mentioned that the Cummins 305/555 is definitely louder than the Cummins 600 and has less power. I drove a Cummins 600, and I could not feel a difference in power and, although the engine sound is different, I didn't think the 600 was quieter than the 305/555. Did I test drive a dud?

I'm confused here. Your truck won't tow a 3500# boat well, and your gonna buy a new truck then bomb it? Why not bomb the truck you have to tow your boat? My first gen stock would pull 3500 all over the place great. Is it because your truck has the auto? IMO 3500# is nothing. My empty flatbed wieghs @7000#.

Michael

I am very happy with my '03 305 HP truck. I put the EZ on when I'm pulling the big fifth wheel. Otherwise, I leave the EZ off when empty. The 305 has plenty of power to spin the wheels, and in the rain I found I had to be very carefull with the EZ installed not to have the truck swap ends on me.

I see nothing wrong with the '03/'04's and if you can get a really good deal on one I'd go for it.

As far as mileage is concerned, I get between 19. 5 and 20 MPG empty when highway driving, and 17-18 MPG in the city. Towing is a different deal. I've seen as low as 9. 0 MPG and a high of 11 MPG. Keep in mind that I'm pulling a very big rig that catches a lot of wind and weighs a bunch. You would do much better.

Personally, I think you'll do better at resale with an auto, and you don't need the stick for what you are pulling. If your future plans include something over 10,000 lbs I'd go with the stick. Otherwise I think you'll be happier with the auto. IMHO.

It will tow it, Michael. I just really dislike the auto when I tow. What I neglected to mention is I tow in the mountains around here and the auto just isn't friendly for that. When I'm in the Sacramento area, I have no problems with the auto at all.

If the deal works out the way I want it, I can spend far less money bombing the new truck. I can't afford to "fix" the transmission in my current truck. Kids have a way of taking away the BOMB money. In reality, I would actually be saving money by getting a new truck as a purchase rather than the lease I have now.

Ahhh, much clearer now. I was just wondering. I see much better now why you are shopping. Thank you for clearing that up, good luck finding a truck to make you happy. I can't help much, I have not been truck shopping since the first quad cabs came out in 98. One thing for certain, if you can live with a clutch 6 speeds rule!

Michael

I'm glad I made it clearer for you and everyone else. I definitely want the 6 speed. I like my auto for the traffic, but I miss shifting gears with the exception of "3 on the tree" in my '69 Bronco I used to have. I'm glad I don't have that POS anymore.

MBerry,

LOL. I learned how to drive with a '77 F100 6cyl three on the tree. I guess my dad figured if I could drive that, I could drive anything! ;)

Dave

ps. Love my 6 speed.

I drove many many different vehicles before I got my license. I spent a lot of time on his farm and worked for him for a long time. I even drove "Ol Yeller" (18spd tractor) before I got my DL. That was an experience for a young kid who hadn't driven anything other than a few Ford and International pickups before then.

Looks like the decision was made for me. I can't get financed now to save my life. I wouldn't trade my daughter for anything but she really hurt the credit score.

Thank you to all for all of your advice.

The 6spd "600" I fell in love with ran like a raped ape! Unbelievable! Maybe next year?

p. s. What happenned to Tomeygun?
