I know I said "no more"....

12v p-pump motor in 03 CR?

I have an 2001 24V 4X4, Auto. I have access to a 95 12 valve and a 98 12 valve wiring harness.

I have killed 4 VP-44s and I am going to make a change. I just need some expert advise on how to proceed. I thought about doing the P-pump conversion to my 24 valve but I was told it would be easier and cheaper to go with a total 12 valve conversion. What do you guys think.

I have been told that if I use the wiring harness from a 98 12v that it will connect directly to my 2001 electrontics and be a piece of cake (I hate that expression). The 12 Valve will drop right in, but the gauge ports on a 12v are SAE and the 24v are metric.

I am the kind of guy that likes detailed instructions and prints when doing this kind of thing. Or at least have a good network for advice.

I appreciate any help, advice and guidance on which route to follow.

Not sure what all the differences are, but the oil pressure sending units are different between my '96 and '98 work truck. The threads look the same but the plug is totally different. I think a "P-Pump conversion would be cool (if I had a VP pump 24 valve) because you would get the excellent flow of the 24 valve head and the excellent fueling and durability of the p-pump.

If you can get the 12 valve for less than about $7k, Id do that. Thats what the Haisley conversion costs, right around there anyway. Obviously that would set a CEL, but remove the bulb or block it off so you cant see it...

Although a p-pumped 24 valve would be cool. Theres guys that have done it. It used to not be very streetable, but all you have to do is get it tuned right and itll run better than the VP did. I plan to get a VP truck and p-pumpin it

Actually Im not sure which would be cheaper... I cant find the Haisley conversion right at the moment

I know several of the sled pullers are runniing P-pumps on the 24V. Estimated cost if you had to buy everything is $5000. A decent 12V with low miles will cost about the same. I know there are major pros and cons to each application. I need to find someone who has data packages for reveiw.

I know a guy that P-Pumped his 24 Valve and wasn't too happy with it. He did a 12 Valve swap, and absolutley loves it.

FWIW The best thing I ever did for my 2000 was hang a P-pump on it. Passed AZ emissions today no problem tune it right
