When I was looking at both, I drove both 2500 and 3500 back to back and couldn't tell the difference in ride. Look at the standard equipment list for both and you'll see the 3500 had a lot of uprated parts, everything heavier duty. For no difference in price and ride, you're getting a lot more truck. Even if you don't use it, its there, and when you have it, you will find a use for it.

Really? My understanding was that there were only four differences on the 3500 model. Overload rear springs, cab clearance lights standard, a 3500 decal on the door instead of 2500, and a higher weight capacity rating on the tag.

What exactly are the other uprated parts you mentioned?

How about the special 3500 model torquetransfibulator under the passenger seat? That's my favorite part of my truck Your truck will also be exactly 1000 times better than a 2500.

Up here in Nevada you do not need to smog the 3500 the cutoff is 10001#. The 4X4 3500 SRW has a GVW of 10100#. The 3500 also gives you 3000# more towing capacity.

I got my moneys worth of advice from this forum, thanks a lot fellers, I considered them all and just went for the best deal on the exact truck I really wanted, I tend to agree with those who advised the 3500 but as RJohnson pointed out, if I don't really need the hauling capacity of the 1 tonner, why pay the extra weight fees, as for Smog Checks, as for now the Diesels aren't being checked in my area, it is near the end of 2006 models and the 6-Spd manuals are as scarce as frog hair, all told I got a lot of good advice and a lot of opinion.

After a week of searching I found my truck at Folsom Ca for $10,000. 00 off MSRP, more options installed and about $800. 00 less than I paid for my 04. 5 2-1/2 years ago, I got no gripes

Wow, 23 of 24 people liked the 3500 and you chose the one that didn't, interesting to say the least. Those 1-ton towing fees in Cally must be steep i guess. Good luck with it, if it has the cummins it's a worthy truck.

I just recently drove both trucks and the 3500 seemed a lot less comfortable so I went with the 2500. Drive both and see what you think.
