Does any body know which companies have deep tool boxes?? I am speaking of the box type that goes accross the bed and up against the cab. My previous truck had one, but since I bought the truck used, I never knew what kind it was. It was so deep that I could bairely fit my arm between it and the bed (deck??). It was like a huge trunk inside... . I could put all sorts of "goodies" in it. I am starting to look around for one for my "new" truck.

Thanks,

Matt

I have a Deflectashield Challenger wide and deep crossbed box in my new truck with a front-hinged single lid. The part # is 5800-it's 27-1/4" wide and 22" deep from top of the lid to bottom of the box. In a Dodge the bottom is about 3" or maybe a little more off the floor of the box. Weatherguard makes one too that I believe is slightly smaller both in width and depth (I've misplaced my catalog right now). However at least in my part of the Great White North the Weatherguard wasn't near as accessible and for the total setup I wanted (the crossbox and 2 60" side boxes) it would have cost me double! Probably worth it in the long run-the Challengers aren't super-heavy duty-but there's nothing saying I can't buy the Weatherguards down the road sometime... .

Hope this helps

Jason

I just added a Weatherguard 117 to my truck, plenty of room. They are not cheap though, around $550. 00 for this one, but great quality and built to last, IMHO. Here's two pics.

The Saint beat me to it again! Does he ever work? I will also add a vote for the Weatherguard. I did go with the "bright" finish however, as I was afraid of cooking things in the back from the sunlight (although, car parts don't usually mind).

I have the SEAL TITE super deep box (19") with the full length door, it is great. Brite aluminum and completley watertight. I even tried to see if spraying a hose under the seal would make it leak, but it did'nt. I would definatley go with a SEAL TITE or Weatherguard going by past expierience.

You might look at the Rawson-Koenig Tack box. Has a single lid and as the name implies will hold a saddle. Don't think it will fit a short bed. :p

I have the Weather Gaurd that fits from level with the bed rails and sits on the floor. I think it is deeper and wider (front to back)than any of the over the rail types I have seen and It is the largest in Cubic ft of room. (I think)It goes from the cab to the wheel wells.

Did I mention I may have one for sale since I installed Dual 5" stacks and don't think the box which holds over 1,200 lbs of tools will fit anymore. So I may change to the Flat floor 5' X 4' X 12" weather gaurd.
