So after hitting a few deer, decided to build something to stand up to a good size buck.

The tube is 4. 5 round with 1/4 wall. brackets are 1/2in plate. Frame supports were 3x3 square tube with 1/4 wall, ans 2x6 square 1/4 wall. Was suprised at how little metal there was on the factory mounting bracket on the frame. My bumper wont bend now (just the frame back of the bumper). It has been deer tested already and it passed with flying colors... and blood... . and fur I still have to weld on a hitch reciever for a winch and some custom tow hooks i'm machining

Looks beefy. . One thing I would suggest.

The top tube, you can see the radiator and such behind it,. . Behind the top tube, I would weld a sheet metal trim "shelf" for just below the grille... Then weld in a Mesh screen between the driving lights. This will dress it up a lot. . Good Job though glad it is buck-proof.

while I applaud your fabrication skills, you did just make the weak spot in a front collision the spot in the frame just behind the core support.

as for the looks, it doesn't "float my boat" but it is your truck. I'd look into filling in some of the gaps under the bottom of the hood, between the fogs and such.

Also, are you considering tying the ends of the tubes together so they are stronger as a single unit?

Thanks guys. It does weigh a little. I would say just shy of 200 had to use a forklift to put it on. I was going to tie the ends together, but liked the seperate look, i'm just going to keep them that way... but who knows things change. I do realize that the weak point is just moved back farther down the frame. I figure if I get in a bad front end collision it will just give me a reason to swap the drivetrain into an older chevy.

You did a very nice job. I'm impressed. Only problem, with all the extra weight you could develop some front end problems down the road, such as ball joints.

Very nice. I've been thinking, measuring, thinking, looking, to come up with a way to build a deer basher. Costs too much to buy one. This gives me some ideas. Maybe square tubing closer together? Cut some holes for lights and air flow. Back to the thinking table. . Nice job.
