Def shelf life varies in different articles. Looks like mopar says it’s ok for 2 years.

I opted against the carquest that was only $10 for 2.5 gals because i couldn't decifer the date code and all of the bottles had white dust/powder on the outside of them

A case (4gal) was included With my truck purchase last week. My DEF gauge is currently reading 1/4. It seems like it’s almost a year old from production, I’ll probably go ahead and use it since the date is still within its limits?

If they are in one gallon bottles...... Why not add one gallon now. Store the rest in a cool place (like if you have a basement?) And put the rest in the def tank after the weather cools down?

Did the case come with a dispensing nozzle or are you using a funnel? Try not to contaminate when adding to the tank.

I actually do have it in the basement already! It stays cooler then 70s down there in a typical summer. The case came unopened and does have a tube that came with it. Simple rinse out with water should keep the tube reuseable?

I wouldn't rinse it with hard water. Just keep it in a ziplock.

Rinsing with hard water could introduce iron, calcium and other minerals into your def system.
