Tried my Dad's 12 controller in my 11 and did not make any difference that is why I have a MaxBrake now!

The 2012 controller has different setups for different trailer brake types and trailer weights - Electric Heavy, Electric Light, Electric over Hydraulic Heavy and Electric over Hydraulic Light. The 2011 doesn't give these setup options. The reports I see over on iRV2 is that, once properly set up, the 2012 controller provides sufficient output to the trailer brakes; the 2011 doesn't (at least for many heavy trailers with straight electric brakes).

The MaxBrake is a superior controller relative to the ITBC, I'm sure, but the additional setup options on the 2012 are a big step up from the 2011 factory controller.

Also, it has been suggested that the 2012 factory brake controller is inertia activated. At the CMEP get together a couple gents in my group were trying to ask the Ram dudes about that very thing but it occurred to me that no one had used the word "Inertia".

After our session was finished I asked the Ram guys for a few minutes of time for some questions and to offer some complaints from the field that I did not wish to ask them in front of a group which was fine with them. One of my questions was in regards to the factory brake controller and what provided the input.

Both responded with brake pressure, and assured me that no inertia controls existed. That would explain the great performance of the 2012 controls. They were unsure exactly where it reads it, we all suspected that the ABS unit would be an easy place to get a pressure signal.

These two were not just talking head, suit type guys. One spent the next half hour explaining the EVIC to me and what he had proposed for engineering changes for 2014. The CMHSL camera set-up is still being kicked around, for example. Right now if you have both the CHMSL and tailgate cameras it requires a different rear view mirror.

The display for the tailgate camera goes to the rear view mirror and the display for the CHMSL camera is in the radio.

This guy has been arguing that both displays should be in the radio similar to a picture in picture television, and also that the customer have the choice of which camera displayed in the large format. I repeat, these guys had a grip.

It'll never happen. OEMs are not in the business of retrofitting previous year models to duplicate new models, they're in the business of selling new products.

I'm sure a dealer will be happy to take a dpf truck in on trade for a new def truck. Bring money.

When we test drove the 2013. 5 Long Horn Ram DRW trucks at the CEMP rally, I asked the CFO if she would like one? The answer was NO!!! No way was she going to part with $67+K for a truck. The 2008 Ram is good enough for us.

Harvey we hit 20. 2 MPG (hand calculated) going back and forth to Indy on Monday (60-65MPH). I needed to fill up before we left and then I filled up again so we could tow home. Best mileage I ever had in the truck.

This is good to know. Before I put a new brake controller in my 2009 I tried my brothers 2012 truck with my travel trailer. Granted I only towed a few miles but comparing the 2012 ITBC to the Maxbrake I could not tell much of a difference. Dodge should really investigate an upgrade to the 2010-11 controller.
