Do any of you have a handle on your DEF usage yet? Mine seems high in that I'm adding a 2.5 gallon jug about every 1200 - 1500 miles. I read somewhere you should use 2 - 5% of your fuel consumption in DEF so when I calculate it from that perspective it seems in line, but it also seems like every time I turnaround I'm adding another jug. These are not solid numbers as I haven't done a great job of tracking usage, just an estimate.

I've been letting it drop to about a 1/2 tank before adding a jug. Maybe I'm driving too much!

Just finished a 2,300 mile trip pulling the fifth wheel, now have 4,500 miles on the rig, I need to add DEF again, have used almost 15 gallons. I would like to hear from others about their usage as well.

My truck has about 6,000 miles on it now with about 1,000 miles towing. My DEF tank was on 1/4 when I bought it and I've added 4 gallons and it is time to add more, so I guestimate my usage to be 1,000 miles/gallon.

My 1500 has 7000 miles on it now and with about 6500 miles towing, Def tank usage is about 4 gallons at 3600 miles which seems quite normal. I also have 3500 Cummins and the usage is higher as I towing larger load.

We're averaging about 11,000 to 13,000 with 80% towing. We too add a 2.5 jug when we get down to about a 1/4 reading. We have 17,850 miles in just a sneak over a year on our 2014 Ram 3500. Hugs, Di

From the MPG perspective mine works out to about 550 MPG, all empty, no towing highway miles at 75 MPH most of the time. I've started to note the odometer on fills of DEF and will try to get a better number. Problem is when filling from jugs and not wanting to overfill and make a mess I'm never starting with a completely full DEF tank to do the math as you would for checking your fuel mileage. Seems to me my first 3000 miles on the truck used 1/2 as much DEF. I did have a check engine light which I took to the dealer for; possibly a flash was performed that has affected my DEF use. I don't know.

Your DEF MPG is similar to TOP's post and you're mainly towing. Compared to what you guys have posted I'll try to get a more accurate usage rate as mine does seem to use twice as much.

Mileage has a lot to do with the right foot.I have some customers who get terrible mileage, jump in the passenger set, hold on and you will quickly see why

john in wash. state

4000 miles of up the mtn pass and back down pulling 13000# 5th wheel

10 to 11 miles per gal of fuel 9.2 if wind is head on

7 gals of def = 571.5 miles per gal of def

2014 drw 3.73 ratio aiain trany 4x4 love the truck no problems so far life is good

I have no complaints about my fuel mileage, it's been great and exactly what I expected. Only referring to DEF usage on the EcoDiesels.

Our Jeep Eco diesel is useing very little only have 1700 miles and it's still pretty full .but it does not tow just in town n freeway driving .

I have right at 4700 miles on my 14, 2,700 mile towing heavy, 40' 5ver, 900 mile towing light, 6,500 pound enclosed trailer. I have been through 15 gallons of DEF, about 313 miles to a gallon. Fuel mileage is right on 9.2-9.4 towing the 5ver. The DEF usage seems high. went through 10 gallons in 2400 miles towing the 5ver on our Florida trip.

I can only buy it in 2.5 gallon jugs, no DEF pumps around here. $14.99 is the cheapest I've found, so $6.00/gallon.
