Problem is def to 5mpg in 130 miles and no codes. Added new def got message on dash. Have only had truck since 11/1. ?????? 2014 2500HD CC 4X4 8' bed

here is the quote since you are on a phone:

"I received the P207f code and some other code. What happened is that I was towing and the DEF got pretty low and I filled it to the top when I stopped for fuel. There is apparently some glitch in some sensors that trips if you go from too low to too full too quickly. You can google it if you would like. Anyways, since I was pretty low and filled it up, it sent an error warning of bad DEF, see dealer, 200 miles to limp mode etc etc. Again... I was in the middle of a trip, in central Florida. I simply cleared the code and hoped. Worked great, continued about 1500 miles home with ZERO issues.

Fast forward 2 years later, it happened again on our trip to Florida last month. DEF fluid got low, couldn't find any until my fluid light came on. I filled it with 5 gallons and the light came on again. I cleared the codes and have driven about 1000 miles with no problems.

Clearly there is nothing wrong with the truck, other than some glitch in the programming that doesn't like when I add the full 5 gallons of DEF too quickly."

Tried to clear the message, will not clear. Took it to a shop and they could not clear message either. Have appt. with Dodge next Tuesday to see if they can clear message. Never had any codes at all.

That post that was quoted was from me. I had this happen to me several times. The countdown to limp mode never actually took effect, it just threatened me and counted down and eventually stopped counting down. Nothing ever happened. DEF was tested, it was fine. The problem is a little sensor somewhere that wasn't reading correctly. Mine was under warranty, so I eventually got it replaced for free. Don't sweat it, there isn't anything wrong with your truck... just a stupid sensor that doesn't effect anything else.

I have a 2016 3500 and the service def woild come on and go away. Took to dealer 4 times and couldn't find issue.Even took a picture message to show them I wasn't imagining it.Finally tripped the check engine light creating a code . It took 10 minutes to fix one of the sensor plugs had a pin pushed back making an intermittent break in the connection.45000 kms later no issues .

I had 2014 truck. 18 check engine lights and see dealer for DEF in the first 1.5 years.
They checked DEF, replaced heating element......it always threatened limp mode but never happened. I found it happened more in winter and more when I used my remote start.
It never put me in limp mode so....I was so fed up I traded it in for a 1016 from a different dealer....on my way to trade in the old truck to pick up the new one the message came on again ( see dealer service def system ...)
Had my 2016 for 1.5 years and it only came on once but cleared itself.....
Oh there is no lemon law up here in Canada...
