Defrost not working

I noticed that when the knob is turned to full defrost I still feel air at my feet. There's basically no difference when the knob is set to defrost and feet to when the knob is at full defrost. I don't remember this being the case but I don't use the defrost often.



I assume there's some sort of solenoid behind the knob. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I need to do? I'm sure this would be fairly expensive at the dealer.

TSB #24-004-03 Defrost door inoperative. Had mine repaired a while back. it took the dealer a whole day to complete... .

Don't know, but when I'm on full defrost, I also get some air out the floor and the passenger side onlyt dash vents (the a/c vents)

The dealer tells me there is nothing wrong, took the dash apart and everything is working fine and other trucks on the lot do the same thing.



So my response was, well, if every truck came off the assemembly line with a dent in the fender, does that mean it's supposed to be there?



He didn't have an answer for that.



But my truck is still the same way. I drive down the highway with the cold defrost on and my wife complains that I have the A/C blowing on her.

That TSB says no air from floor. My problem is the floor has all the air and the defrost does not. It's blowing full air out the bottom and I can't even feel it coming out of the defrost vents. Strange.

Ours had the same problem. The dealer did the defrost TSB... no dice. By the third time they fixed the vent problem, the panel door was messing up. Now, it works sometimes and then quits blowing air. It still makes blower noise, no air flow though. Turn off the A/C button and turn it back on and I get cold air for 20 or so. The dealer orderd a few more parts, not sure what. The A/C has yet to work right, the truck is almost a year old. Worst truck I've had. Been to the dealer about 8 times now for the same problems. The A/C works ok if its not too hot out. Above 85 its a 50/50 chance for A/C. :{

SSage I'm sorry you are having this much trouble with something like this.

Once a dealer fails to fix a problem your doomed! The first dealer becomes responsible for the added cost of their screw ups. I would like to take it else where, but Dodge says NO and the other dealers say they won't fix it. They claim they won't be paid by DC for fixing another dealer's problem without a huge fight that they usually loose.



My problem is a lemon A/C. I don't really think DC knows how to debug these systems yet. They seem to replace stuff till they find it. One more visit and I should have 90% new parts. The only thing not changed will be the dash controls and heater core...



I still don't understand why the thing stops blowing air while the blower is roaring. The air keeps getting warmer while the air flow keeps reducing... .



I hope Parshal finds a better sollution than my dealer.

Well, a panel door was screwing up and blowing air to the floor in "full" defrost mode. Air always blew through the floor vents. They thought it was just the defrost TSB, not! I'm no longer getting the clunking sound when changing to or from defrost. It changes very nice now. I also had air coming from the side window defrost vents all the time, thats stopped too. The defrost vents work in defrost mode now. About a day after the vents started working right again they stopped blowing cold air, a few days latter the air stopped flowing about 50% of the time.



I'm not sure if its a dealer caused problem. Its been having air flow problems since new. But, at least it would blow cold air on your feet, now it just makes noise about half the time. It acts like its icing up.

Mine had the same problem too and your dealer is an idiot. Go someplace else where they've got experience and a brain.
