Hey guys, I was wondering if you can give me some suggestions to my dilemma.

I've been told I have a defueling issue.

Here's the specifics. WOT, power dies just prior to shift. Really $uck$ when your trying to haul a$$!

See sig. for mods, any help is appreciated.

TIA

That is normal. Dodge has programmed the engine to defuel on automatic equipped trucks when shifts occur. Mine does the same thing and it is very annoying. There is a TSB out to reprogram the ECM to disable this feature. I have not had it done yet, but will sometime shortly.

TSB 18-24-00

"The Engine Control Module (ECM) software, on a 2001 Ram Truck equipped with a 5. 9L-24V diesel engine, is designed to "torque manage" the power output of the engine. This is done to protect the automatic transmission components. The revised software calibration restores the power output and improves the vehicle performance in overdrive".

Thanks for your quick reply. I've heard that there is a wire that can be cut which will stop this also??

I'm also concerned about a re-flash, here is why:

On a recent trip to Florida with my 5th wheel, I noticed that the engine performance and power seemed to increase after a couple hundred miles. Power never went back down. Am I a moron, or does this actually happen when the truck is loaded up after being driven for 12k miles empty.

BTW, the first 3k miles were put on pulling a 7k lb trailer from Arizona to Rhode Island.

Any further help/suggestions is appreciated.

TIA

George

I updated that post and i wanted to do the same here.

that post Bob is referring to is not related. it is for a defueling problem or speed limiter that cummins put on the 01 and up trucks.

Batman. your problem would be fixed with the TSB, that is if you dare let them flash you. :D
