defueling question

I like the 3rd gen cummins/dodge and I have a question. Does a 3rd gen Cummins/Dodge defuel if it senses wheel slip?



The reason I ask is I drove a 2005 Duramax with a hypertech box and the owner said don't be afraid to get on it. It was so slow I asked if the "box" is on. He said yeah the rear tires are slipping, put it in 2 wheel hi. I stopped, put it in 2 wheel high, then stomped it to the floor. It was a different truck, the duramax pulled hard up to 80mph where I let off.



Please don't turn this into a dmax bashing thread, I only told the story above to explain my question.

What mode was it in originally? Was it "Auto 4wd"?



It would make sense that it would defuel to both lessen rear wheel slip and make it easier for the transfer case to engage 4wd.



(Don't tell anyone I know, but I like D-Max trucks. Just not the IFS)
