I'm having trouble getting all the bugs out of this thing, Ultimate Electroncs says the factory alarm and the matrix 2. 1 are not compatable. When I open the door after disarming the system sometimes (about 50%) the factory horn goes off, this seems worse when outside temp. is cold. If I look in the window and the light is flashing then I know to put key in door and disarm so horn won't sound. This is on an 03 with factory keyless. I see DEI makes Viper and Python, and all appear to be the same. I'm about ready to pull it out and forget about the starter and cool down. Anyone having the same problems?

I have the Python 881 installed on my 04. The only problem I had was when the wire that attaches to tach, for the remote start, and turbo timer, the engine would cutout intermittently. Took a while, but they finally figured out that by hooking the wire from the Python, (this tell the Python that the engine is running) to the tach wire, it was causing the cutout. They had to remove the wire from the tach and tap another electrical source to tell the Python that the engine was running.

Otherwise, no other problems.

Try unlocking your truck with the factory key fobs and see if the alarm goes off. We have a 2004 durango and what we found was as long as we locked it with factory key fob it had to be unloacked with the factory key fob(using the factory fob will arm and disarm). If you locked it with the viper(Dei) key fob you could unlock it witht he factory. I was told that there was nothing available to work with the durango alarm system. We had this system on a 2002 Jeep overland and it worked flawlessly. I still have the module in a drawer at home. We just use the factory key fob for entry and the viper key fob for starts. We were told we could go to the dealer and have them shut the alarm off permantently

I never lock it with factory fob, always use Clifford fob. Thats what is crazy, it only goes off part of the time. I don't want to carry two fobs all the time, kind of defeats the purpose of making it simple. Ultimate has even put a new system in and still can't figure it out. I was just hoping to find a starter with turbo cool down and that locks the doors without all the B. S. Seems the equipment is smarter than the tech. Thanks

Disable factory alarm

I have the DEI remote start with the LCD screen (not sure of the model) its about a year old. This is installed on a Isuzu Trooper that had a factory alarm with starter disable. In order to make it work the Stereo shop had to disable the factory alarm. I can not believe they even attempted to continue to use it. Having worked in a stereo shop in my younger years I can tell you disabling the factory junk is the only way to make the fancier aftermarket alarms work.

We love our DEI alarm and remote start, I will be looking at one for my Dodge soon.
