i agree that it looks like it has great features. i would call and make sure it has a diesel mode for the auto start. I just found them for 165... . tempting... .

I've been loking too, just hadn't found the functions I liked to fit the old budget, where's the 165 deal? pm me - I think I'd jump on this too. Also like to hear any comments on installs.

torque this- could you give a more complete run down of the unit. Likes, dislikes. Did you install it yourself? If so, how was that process?

Dudes, "that's what my kids say", found em here:

online

for $ 155, they say new, full waranty, and in stock.

Still like to hear from someone who has put one in about installation.

Didn't install it, I am going to have someone put it in the Caravan, too complicated for me.

Being a DEI product I have no worries. When I saw the price I couldn't resist.

topside... ... .....

like to order one of these but would like to hear from someone who has performed the install first. Thanks ... .....

Have any if you installed the Valet 554r yet. Still curious. Wondering if I am going to need a good wiring schematic or one of those high dollar service manuals to trace down all the stuff the remote needs tied to?

Thanks .....

Should be able to look here and see what you'll need to do. Directed's installation guides are pretty good. I haven't installed one of these, but my truck came with a Viper 650HF, and the guide helped me get all of it hooked up right, since the guy who did it the first time sure didn't.

Here's another site that might help. A service manual can be handy, but a voltmeter will get you by.

I looked for a while on remote starters and found I like the Astroflex the best. IMO it has the best features. On manual transmissions, it uses three lazers to see if your shifter is in neutral or in gear. Another nice feature is it will start you vehicle when it gets below a preset temp. Thats nice for people living in very cold climates and the power goes out.

As for installation, I had it done for free when I purchased the unit. It took the tech about 6 hours. It has been problem free since '98. Check them out here

OK< got the system installed in the wife's Caravan... NOT A DO IT YOURSELF PROJECT... (as far as the Caravan goes).

There are more than 12 resistors, diodes, and relays to install.

The installer said that the trucks are MUCH easier to do.

IMO, find a good shop to do the install, way too many wires!
