Perkin's Diesel 100 series...?

Ram to be available in Oz

I live on a farm and have a #2 off road deisel tank for my tractors. I just found out that my local farm service will provide me with a 300/500 or 1000gallon tank for #2 on road deisel (clear color)that I can fill up my CC3500 with. the cost for the delivered fuel is actually 1-2 cents less than the at the pump at the filling station. This will allow me to buy fuel when it is low, and the convenience of filling up on the farm especially when I have long trailers hooked up, which limits what stations I can safely pull into.

this may be a good option for others of you to look into.

We have same thing at work. We have a 500g diesel tank at 5% soy diesel, and we locked into a price almost $0. 40 less than at the pump now. Also saves a lot of payroll because our guys aren't hanging out at the gas station talking to the pretty girl behind the counter!!!

As long as you use enough fuel to keep it fresh its a great idea. The problem comes with condensation from heating and cooling cycles as well as high humidity. That's why I buy my equipment fuel at the pump. I only use 100-150 gals a month and I don't think that's enough turnover to keep me in guaranteed good fuel.

You might want to really look into storing fuel at home. We do the same thing for our place, if the EPA gets wind of it they can make life REALLY BAD and COSTLY for you if you don't have the set up that they want.

It's funny if we run red dyed fuel and get caught we pay dearly, fines, estimated un paid back taxes nailed to a cross, tar-ed and feathered made an example of and so on. However if we buy a Tesla all electric car and charge it up at our home or office where there is NO HIGHWAY TAX on the electric we'r rewarded with a Clean Pass that allows us to use the HOV lanes with only one (1) person in the car because we'r savin the envirorment.....

Complaints such as these are why we'll all probably be paying a tax per mile driven to capture the lost fuel tax revenue due to increasing sales of electric cars and hybrids. It's already being discussed...

"Them guys ain't payin' their fair share" - so it hits US in the wallet. Go figure - guess that's what happens when you expect the government to fix a situation.

Not sure what you mean, are you chastising him for complaining? Who else will fix the problem besides the government who created the problem? The per mile tax idea was conceived long before the general public started complaining about electric cars getting a pass on fuel tax. The drive towards better fleet fuel economy will hurt tax revenues also. Do you really think the government is ignorant of this and will sit idle while their tax revenues drop as cars become more fuel efficient and electric cars become more popular??? No, they have plans. When it comes to taking our money that is one of the few things the government does very well.

Back to the topic. I have an above ground 300 gal fuel oil tank which is unused since switching to natural gas. Its inside an unheated garage. I've been thinking of using it to get pure diesel to avoid the bioblend crap at the pumps. For the guys that have their own storage tanks, do you have condensate issues? Do you use anything to prevent condensation? Do you angle the tank slightly and have a drain on the low end to decant off any water?

Petcock drain on the low end, fuel pump on the high end, 3/4 inch off the bottom. Just enough pitch to run water. Maybe 3/4 of an inch in 10ft.

Oregon is implementing a road tax as we speak based on miles driven. I'm not sure on the specifics but I doubt it will be a flat rate or the electric weenies will be raising a hissy over the guys that run them dirty diesel pickups, citing we "tear the roads up more." Or something like that.

Could get interesting.

"Kommiefornia" the soviet state of which, has now put on the burner a proposal to tax you for every mile you drive, and for those of us who live 20 or more miles from a city, or even a regular store, this is VERY UGLY!!
Since I must drive to get even fuel, or food, we will be hit pretty hard over say the guy who lives 3 miles from his employment,
and COULD walk, bicycle, or even skateboard to work. We also have five vehicles, from a Fiat commuter car, to a Jeep TJ Wrangler, and an older Jeep Cherokee family car, as well as my step sons Tahoe, and my 3500 Dodge truck. Since this is "Kommiefornia", and I DO RIDE my horse to the local feed store for small stuff like bread, and baloney, but they do not, and for health reasons, will not have food products. We have neighbors down the road who are more elderly than us, so we always stop and see if they want to come into town with us, and they have offered to share the cost of fuel before.

Oh don't we love our "Gubmint", who of course knows better than we do what and how to run our lives!!

This is the reason that a few years ago we moved out of the California I use to know Growing up, and with very few exceptions have not looked back. Now that we have no financial ties to the state, Its a fun place to visit because of the close friends, other than that. GOOD BYE!!!
