delayed oil pressure reading

I hope this the correct forum. It does involve the engine on my v ehicle. Here is the deal. About three months ago, I installed Amsoil dual filter system and Amsoil 15-40 synthetic oil. I opted to use Fleetguard LF 787 as full flow filter. Everything worked great. Now have 6,000 miles on oil and noticed a few days ago, the oil pressure gauge is taking longer to come up on start up. It takes about 3 seconds now before it moves. Used to be almost instant. I have 50 lbs at 60 mph and a solid 30 at idle. Oil is on the mark and appears clean. I haven't done my first analysis yet. Was going to wait til 10 K miles. After getting a little concerned about the delay in pressure reading at startup, I changed the full flow filter and topped off with oil. Should this be of any real concern or is this normal as the oil ages? Won't know til tomorrow AM if the filter change helps. Thanks all.

I haven't installed my bypass system yet, but my oil guage does the same thing. Even when I was using the Fleetguard oil filters, it still would take about that long. If the truck sits over night it takes a while before the guage moves.

I have approx 50-55 at 60 mph and 40 at idle. .

RHarvey, I use the Fleetguard LF 787 for the full flow filter. It is cheaper and readily available locally. The Amsoil cross ref book says it is the same(or will work OK) Guess I will just live with it and keep an eye on the gauge.

slow oil pressure

Mine does the same thing. I use a Wix 51607 filter with no problems. This "problem" is considered normal for these trucks. Dodge is not noted for accurate gauge readings by no means. I suggest removing the sending unit and checking with a mechanical gauge if you are suspicious of any problems. I almost gaurantee that there is nothing wrong though. Just keep her full of good clean oil and drive on!!

Mine also takes about 3 sec to read pressure and since installing the amsoil dual bypass setup seems to take a little less than before but pressure is about 2lbs less too. Is the LF787 rated as a bypass filter and if so what Micron level does it filter to.

The cross ref book I received from Amsoil says that a Fleetguard LF 787 will work in place of SDF 26. I wonder if they mean it has the same filtering qualities(or just that it will 'fit' the threads) and it is available locally and cheaper, too. What do you think about using this for my full flow along with the Amsoil bypass filter? thanks.

I think the Fleetguard filter will work fine as will any GOOD qaulity filter for the full flow. I would like to find a alternative to the Amsoil BE100 bypass filter with the same Micron rating.
