I am trying decide on a delayed shutdown option to save the turbo.

The options I'm looking at are:
1. ISSPRO Turbo Temp Monitor
2. Turbo Diesel Life Saver from Geno's
3. HKS or Greedy Shutdown Timer

Yes, I read issue #30 and I really like the ISSPRO unit, but my main concern is arming my alarm with one of these units. From what I've found out the Turbo Diesel Saver from Geno's will arm the alarm after shutdown if you contact the company and they will design the unit to do so.

Does anyone have one of these units in conjunction with an alarm? How does it work?
Perhaps Steve St. L has an alarm on his truck and he can enlighten me on the install?

Thanks,
Ryan

Cooker ~ I installed the turbo live saver but do not have the alarm system. I do know the directions and the unit has to wires which it is my understanding has to be wired into the alarm sensors. Supposedly when you set the alarm whit the life saver the engine vibration would set of the alarm as it is armed. The wires are to block the sensors from activation until engine shutdown. Since all alarms are not created equal you need to know their circuitry in order to wire this feature in. I hope this helps a little. I like mine and it works great for me.

No plans to bomb. This is my retirment vehicle currently pulling 21' 5er want to buy 30 to 35 for retirment.

Thanks Bob.

Yes that does help. Although the Turbo Life Saver, is not my first choice (I like the ISSPRO unit), and it is the most spendy of the group. I guess if this is the only one that will suit my needs, so be it.

Does anyone have experience with the ISSPRO and an alarm or the HKS or Greedy timers.

Thanks,
Ryan

Cooker, I don't have an alarm on my truck. You could try contacting Isspro and ask about it. I'll email you the phone number of the engineer at Isspro that I worked with when developing the circuit for it to work on our trucks.

You can hook the turbo life saver to an alarm but it is pretty bullet proff all by it's self, if you touch the brake it shuts down and cannot be restarted w/o the ignition key, same for when the unit times out. It also has a kill switch which kills the fuel so no start, usefulfor prelubing befor start.
I like mine #ad

What's cheaper and more than just speeds up your turbo down cool time is a Pyscotty air unit. With a Pyscotty my 3500,even after pulling a heavy load in the summer, takes less than one minute to to cool down to a safe shut down temp. Keeps the EGTs down about 150° while towing also.
