Moderators, Once again I believe you have NOT acted in the best interest of the TDR membership. Having joined the TDR so I could have access to the wealth of information that is on this website, you have performed a great disservice. There was some very valuble technical information being discussed in a civilized manner; it's obvious there are potential problems with the upgrades offered by the vendors for automatic transmissions. In the future let the members decide for themselves! Seriously what was gained by this foistering act of censorship?

In agreeance They cut this thread as I was making my last post. Went to post and it was no longer there. Why not? Lots of good tech info deleted!Unfortunately not all was 100% accurate as I was trying to point out. Should we carry on?

Count me in as being concerned about this. I pay a fair price for TDR membership, and don't think I should have to worry that my information is being censored whenever someone says something about a product that might cause me to not buy it.

Thanks Richard and others for your comments. We understand and ultimately agree with your position.

The thread has not been deleted; it was temporarily moved to a holding area (Moderator's Forum) until we can eliminate the emotion and refocus on the technical aspects of the thread. We agree, there is good data/discussion that needs to be posted, but the thread was beginning to get emotional/personal. Since the discussion primarily involved two vendors, we will contact these parties during the business week and request/suggest that they prepare a one-post only technical descriptive of the attributes of their respective product. Once submitted, that data will be reposted allowing customers to make informed decisions and follow up, off-line or via e-mail, with each vendor as appropriate.

From experience, we have learned that once an issue evolves from primarly technical to include emotion, meaningful discussion declines. Hard feelings develop. Personal attacks increase. And the readers lose.

Be assured, we will work diligently to get the technical data back to you in a professional, timely manner.

Thanks, in advance, for your patience and understanding.

TDRadmin, Thanks for your response, you have restored my confidence in the TDR. I'm looking forward to the reposting of this issue #ad

I, too, look forward to seeing the thread being put back on the board. Don't care too much for the idea of it being "edited" though.

You know, people argue, disagrees, get angry, and then guess what, 99% of the time they get over it. Having "Big Brother" there to "fix" the problem isn't really necessary is it?

The defintion of "Forum" is: assembly for the discussion of problems of public matters. So let us have a forum.

I like my information "straight up" not watered down. I'm grown up enough to decide for myself what I should and should not read.

That 1 thread was worth the $35. 00 membership

well guys just shows you who is in control. If anyone wants more detail on what happened or wants a copy of the thread just send an e-mail. I wish this could have been fininshed online because now you guys will never know what really was going on. A watered down version just means that you will not be able to see what happend to who and why and what was going to be done to fix it.

Hey guys,

I have been doing a lot of thinking since this thread was taken off. While I agree the thread had validity it also had cheap shots. The moderators very valid concern that the tone of the thread was losing its technical content was justified. I have not changed my position as I believe this is a very serious issue, however I will let the appropriate governing associations deal with it from here on in.

I have been in touch with the ATRA and the ATSG, regarding the Trailer Life article content, these are very well respected organizations in the automatic transmission world and have some of the most talented transmission experts in North America. These are the guys I turn to when I need technical assistance & guidance.

Robert Patton contacted me today and offered me an opportunity to state my case and clarify my position on what I believed to be in error in the Trailer Life article. While I considered taking Mr. Patton up on his offer I feel the TDR membership would benefit more from a governing body that has no personal involvement and will deal with strictly the mechanical facts and post their findings accordingly on that basis only.

Mr. Patton is finding out about my decision at the same time you guys are as I have not contacted him privately to give him this decision. I have said all I intend to on this issue and will post the findings from the ATRA when they are made available.

Once again my apologies to the moderators and Robert Patton for the uncomfortable position I helped put them in.

Thanks again for your understanding.

MCrossley, I sent you an e-mail.

Although I'm not thrilled about the possiblity of getting a watered down version of the tread when it's re-posted... it's better than nothing at all.

Still looking forward to the continuation of the technical side of this thread! I'm hear to learn and increase my knowledge base on these trucks.

Fella’s

TDR Admin. has asked BD Power to create new threads on BD applications and we will be doing this.

More of our technical people are now involved with this site and can address questions and suggestions. Everyone can chat about the strengths and weakness of the product and the application. We try to keep our web page technically current for quick reference. www.bd-power.com

Some questions should be handled off line. Which ones though? One can only ask to put your self in our shoes.

hey everyone that e-mailed me, I will be sending this out in the morning, I got such an overwhelming response it is taking me forever to put together a list of e-mail to send to. Also it has been asked if I am doing this to hurt anyone or make a bad claim, this is just to make clear that I am sending this out as a favor to TDR memebers not for any other reason.

Mike,

Thanks for the e-mail... ...

I hope you get your problem resolved. The information in the thread WILL influence my decision on my next upgrade.

Just got back from vacation, I left on the 3rd of November and guess that the missing thread is the one that I posted to before I left, hopefully it was not deleted because of my reply, I want to learn about auto transmissions as I have one.
Thank You.
