The prizes are really tempting... . but I'd hate to think that I shelled out a couple of thousand dollars on tuition (and beer... )this semester to miss classes that have very strict attendance policies... . as in if I miss two classes I fail automatically.

Maybe I'll have to take ill..... diesel fever. . yeah, that's it!!

Piers, I can't wait for the day that I call you with credit card in hand... . just gotta get some of these dern school expenses out of the way first... . then I can modify my truck... (saying the 'B' word just doesn't seem right these days..... ) Get them twin-turbo kits ready, one of 'em has my name all over it!

Matt - quarrantined for 'diesel fever'... very contagious!

Bumped the timing to 19 degrees today. Assuming that the chart I was going by is a linear function (largest reading I could find was 15 degrees). Does 7. 0 mm lift sound right for 19 degrees? It didn't completely solve the popping problem, however it did delay it some what. Now it won't start popping until around 3100 rpm. I am concerned however about cylinder pressures. At what point should I quit advancing the timing due to excessive pressures? I think with enough advance I could eventually get it mostly cleared up but I'm guessing that is probably going to be around 22 degrees. At this point I'm afraid pressures will be extremely high.

Will water injection help to keep cylinder pressures down, or does it only help with EGT's??

I plan on running it... . cheap mod, great insurance.

Not sure about cylinder pressure changes but water turned to steam expands. I ran water injection on a gasser that had way too much compression to use as a truck motor and it would ping like crazy and when the W. I. was turned it instantly quit. I also tried mixing alcohol 50/50 with the water and that worked good too.

My experiences with injecting 100% denatured alcohol on a turbo-gasser have been really good. I have a friend that has a Garrett T-72 (big turbo) on his stock GMC Typhoon 4. 3L V-6. They're turbo from the factory, but have a TINY Mitsubishi turbo... . he's literally TRYING to blow up his engine so he can put in the new one... . but at 24psi with NO intercooler... the denatured alcohol is doing it's thing and working wonders!

I just HAVE to try water injection on my 6BTA once the soot starts to really fly!
