Well I changed the oil in the boat today at 81 hours. That is early, normally I go around 100 hours. The CJ-4 looked a little harder in the pale than it did on the dip sticks. I gave it a fresh change back to CI-4+ and installed new filters. I thought about not changing the filters, but I did.

Hope Chevron keeps making the CI-4+ in some form. I saved the two 5 gal pales just incase I have to buy bulk. SNOKING

I just sent Chevron an email asked how long CI-4+ Delo 400 will be available. I gave them the test results for the two Delo's to look at.

Has anyone had a chance to make it by their local Cummins shop and get the straight scoop on the use of the CJ-4 oils in the older engines?

I don't know about your local Cummins shop but near me they aren't any different than the average Dodge shop and they wouldn't have a clue other than what they've been told that it's the latest and greatest.

I've got a 6 gallon box of Delo 400 LE that I got from Costco. I wonder if I should take it back and try to get some of the old Delo, or just use it and change it a little sooner then normal. My 2005 is now just being used for towing and I'm putting less then 7K a year on it. I usually change oil at least once a year and sometimes twice, just because I have the belief that even if you truck is sitting most of the time, it's better to change it out regularly rather than just look at the mileage. Any thoughts...

Well what is the latest thoughts on the new LE CJ-4 oils in older engines? It is time to check the boat oil again and the truck soon also.

I am still not convinced that is backward compatible thing is really all that true.
