I heard you folks talking about problems with the delphi box... can someone tell me something about it? Is this box only used on the 4WD or is it used on the 2WD also? Are there problems with the 2WD steering? The only think I've noticed with my front end is there is no grease fittings. Mine was built on 7-2000.

Big,
The Delphi box (part number ending with AF) seems to be the answer to some of the steering problems. I don't know if it's only for the 4x4s or not. Mine is a 4x4, and I now have the Delphi. I don't know what box comes from the factory. On mine it might have been a Saginaw, but I'm not sure. I think it's mostly 4x4s that are having the wandering and sloppy steering problems. There's several threads on this topic that you can look up.

My '01. 5 2wd came with the Delphi steering box. At first, the steering wandered about and I was concerned, I seemed to be constantly correcting to keep it straight. Then at about 3000 mi, it steered and tracked well.

My 01. 5 is at 5k miles, I jacked it up greased the factory spots(about 10 pumps each)and drove it today. A little better but you still have to stay on top of it. Any other suggestions before I take it back?

DRT,

Try adjusting your tire pressures. I used the numbers on the chart that came with my owner's manual to tweak my new box. They were overinflated to 60-65. I'm now running 50-55, front and 45, rear. Now it steers great.
