After replacing 3 lift pumps I will try a Delphi HFP953. It looks nothing like the original. Has anyone ever installed one, is it very hard and is it worth it?

lift pumps

hello,

After the second lift pump and a injector pump $$ I went to genos with a DD replacement pump. The three year warranty was good for me. I have one on my 2002 wroks great ,15psi most of the time.

how did the Delphi 953 work? I see that my local AutoZone can get that pump and it looks different. My 2001 was never converted to the in-tank pump so mine is still on the block pulling fuel. I want to replace it with something more dependable now. The factory one has been working for a long time. LOL

The best thing to do, IMHO, is to relocate the pump to the frame, Geno's sells it. Reolcating the pump to the frame makes the pump a "Pusher" pump instead of a "Puller" pump, and it lasts far longer. I have been using the stock Carter pump. When the fuel pressure flickers quickly between 9-12psi, install the spare one you will carry with you.
Many people disagree with me, and run different pumps. But I will stick with that works for me. I have found that NAPA boxed pumps seem to last longer than the ones from Pep Boys, even tho they are all OEM Carter.
YMMV
