Actually... The jeep would not pass the MOT inspection (I think in New England?), and was not repairable (The frame had rotted out beyond being able to repair and pass inspection).



Normally, vehicles like these are hauled to a junkyard. Instead these guys had a full day of fun, and produced a great video showing the durability of a Cherokee.



After this video was made, they hauled it to the junkyard and got 110Lbs for it (the money that's in lbs,, whatever it is ) That's about $240.

One more thing,, the only reason they stopped driving it was because a transmission cooler line ruptured...

P. S. When your done with that "soap box" your standing on be sure to donate that to the homeless. I don't have a problem with people posting their opinions but be prepared for return fire and by saying "Not trying to be a PITA here, guys, and I don't want to start a flame war over this" doesn't work!

Jeep cheroke xj not yj are great vehicles but i'm sure they had a reason for destroying it and it was awsome to watch.

GOD, I HATE that mentality! That is like saying that we have what we have because we "got lucky", not becuase we actually made wise choices and EARNED it! We all have the opportunity to make something out of ourselves in this country. Hard work and education can get anyone ahead. Just being "lucky" (or "more fortunate") does not get you far. Those that are "less fortunate" will always be that way if they choose to remain that way. Get a job, stop downloading taxpayer funded babies and making poor dicesions and you can realize fortune and appreciate it!

That being said, I do think it is generous to donate a vehicle to charity, BUT it is that vehicles owner who should be ALLOWED to do whatever he or she decides, even if it does mean having fun with it. It is kind of a shame to not part out the good parts to collectors or restorers though. BUT it is not my place to tell someone else what to do with their vehicle. I have been known to have similar fun with my Polaris!

I saw this video awhile back, if you knowtice the licence plates they are here in the states, the story is that where ever it is the guys father owns a salvage buisness and the jeep wouldn't pass inspection, I love the video. I have my fair share of fun with XJs and it one of the best vehicals ever made. I have a 96 right now that is all orginal except for tires and wheels, and exaust that has 230k and still is strong as heck. it will take my 06 cummins in the 1/4 with no issuses.

My dad bought my 93 new, drove it for 65,000 miles. Gave it to me for my 17th birthday. He drove it slow and easy. Was my first car all my own, and my first manual trans. I managed 40,000 miles more miles on the original clutch. at 100,000 we replaced that. at 160,000 miles I got money to rebuilt it. the motor was getting tired!.



I raced, towed, off roaded and other wise beat the snot outa the jeep! She started to back fire here and there and run hot.



rebuild time, My first rebuild. I was shocked, my buddy is does a lot of motors on the side helped me out since this was my first time, he was shocked and told me if you were not putting in the stroker kit, all it would need it a hot dip to clean it up and you could even reinstall the original barrings.



Yes, that's correct! The Cylinders looked factory! The barrings didn't have a scratch on them! Cam looked new!



In the end, the valve springs were really worn out, time chain in comparison to the replacement was 1/2 inch longer, and the rear main was leaking big time.

Maybe he's referring to the similarities of the 2 suspensions as well? First thing I noticed is the entire suspension and drive train is identical, but SMALLER?!?!



1 to 1 same part numbers between the jeep and the ram..... Nothing is shared. I bet the A/C compressor is bigger on the RAM.



Now, Ram 1500 to 2500/3500, I'm sure there are a few parts shared like A/C compressor, Heater core, One of the battery trays, some interior trim parts, steering wheel stuff... . and a bunch more. I'm sure even less is shared with the Dakota, durango, ect.



It's safe to say the Jeep series SUV's don't share much with dodge up until recently with the Jeep compass and what ever is on the dodge side name wise.



Well, they are putting the Hemi in just about anything now.

I think the Nitro is the Dodge counterpart.



Sure alot of the minor electrical parts are similar, seat fabrics, plastics, radios, etc. Sure DCX uses as much common stock as they can across their entire line to save money.

Just goes to show how badass jeeps are, even that unibodied cherokee took a ton of abuse, I don't think there are a lot of vehicles that can fly through the air like that "stock", smash into the ground and still drive around.
