Well another typical anal install by none other than the Tool Man. Well I now feel "Insured" that the frail lift pump now has some engineering to help out.

EMD,

Right behind it ... Look for the factory fuel line strap that's in my pic and you will see where to go from there. (Altho you have a shortbed I dunno if its the same) I would say 6 inches from the tank.

Nice Install

Looks great. One question though... Did you leave the stock Lift Pump on the engine? I suppose its possible to run it in conjuction with the Carter pump that you have pictured but why bother right... Thanks for sharing. Dan

This pump is a "Pusher" that will push fuel to the factory lift pump that is allready on the truck thus Prolonging the life of theese Frail and incorrectly placed lift pumps. The lift pump from the factory is desighned to Push fuel not pull it to the engine bay, Seccondly (in my truck's case) there is approx 10 feet between the pump and tabk further enhancing failure to the stoxk unit. NOW with this pusher setup I have more than enough "Head" to keep the system A. Not fuel starved B. Keep the factory lift pump alive. C. Keep 4200. $$ in the bank a little longer for the VP44 injection pump

$4,200-$5,000 for a VP44 from Dodge, $1,800 or less from Cummins. :D I have even seen them for around a grand, new.

Man, I gotta get my new fuel system installed soon...

tim , looks good , did you add a spit sheild to protect it from road salt yet ?

i'm still waiting for my pump up front to fail so i can see if a pump mounted in the rear will make my truck run better , i seem to be doing something wrong ???

How did you power the pump?

I would like to do this to my truck, my lift pump is only about 2. 5K miles old, and has all ready lost about 1-2 Pounds of pressure at idle. (Maybe it's just breaking in)

How did you power this pump to turn on and off ?

Relays? Switches? ? ? ?

Thanks,

MerrickNJr

john,

I actually am in the process of making a nice litte sweet shield that may just bolt up with a "Factory look"

"Doh... . Back to the drawing board..... failure on the shield... . unless anyone can make a compound dual plane 45 degree bend on 1/4 inch aluminium?
