Just got back for the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, MI. Here are the pics of the Megacab that Chrysler brought to the show:

Chrysler - what idiots. NO 2006 Trucks at the show. All I know is I'm going to buy something towards the end of the year and if they don't get their stuff together it's gonna have to be a Chevy or Ford. I need the interior space...

That was the intention of the post, there are none.

I don't know why anyone expected the MegaCab to be at Detroit - Dodge introduced the 3rd gens (1500 in Feb 01 and HDs in Feb 02) at the Chicago auto show. DC's big splash was the Dodge Charger at Detroit- why distract from it when it wasn't necessary?

And it may be done a la the Power Wagon, which was shown at a press event in June 04, not at any of the major auto shows. Ford did the same with the 05 Super Duty because it wasn't that major a redesign. Ram sales were down in 04 - why make the first half of 05 a total zero by showing a vehicle that will cause a percentage of customers to wait an unspecified amount of time when they might get a truck now? Unlike the full redesign of the 3rd gen, the MegaCab is a limited production rig, an additional choice amongst an existing line - the Quad will still be the cash cow. New front and rear end treatments and a new interior are also tentatively scheduled for MY06 - so what happens to all those people who might want the MegaCab but don't like the rest of the truck's design?

Go to this web-site www.rv.net there is a comment in the tow vech. section, states dodge 2006 mega cab coming out in 2006. There is a spy photo of the 2006 mega cab. Don,t know if its the real thing or not. coobie :)

I can understand the bean counters saying it might hurt sales of existing models - it's just annoying. Someone who doesn't know that they are going to sell a Megacab might go visit Ford or Chevy and buy one. Seems like not showing it might also hurt future sales. I guess they count on someone going out and buying what they want now & then go and buy the latest and greatest when it comes out. I sure wish I had that kind of cash.

Dodge has made all of their new model introductions at the Chicago auto show for quite a few years. The last time they introduced one at the Detroit show was the redesign of the minivan and sales for that final year went into the take and cost them a fortune. Ever since that all of the new intro's have been at Chicago. It also get's them away from the media splash of all the other manufacturers making their debuts at Detroit.

I am planning a trip to the Auto Show this coming weekend. Good to know that we dont have to stop by the dodge area!!! Just hit up the dealership.

They showed the mega cab at the dealer new car show in las Vegas this fall. It looked just like a quad cab with eight inches behind the rear door. It's not like it is an all new truck, just considerably larger than before. I assume it will be the largest cab in the industry.
