What are the chances that Dodge will suprise us with a Mega Cab w/8 foot bed at the Detroit Auto Show? Or Chicago? Perhaps a 4500/5500?

I doubt it, but hope they do. I'm stuck with my short bed now and won't trade it just for the extra 2 feet of bed space. It's one of the last 5. 9's too.

If you're going to wish for something, why not a mega cab with a 12' bed, tandem rear axles, and a 2 speed rear end (dualie, of course)?

yeah. i like the sound of a megacab 12 foot bed. but just one axle (dually). and lets get an eaten fuller 10 speed to back that bad boy up and ill be trading in my 05. lol

You forgot the 36k# GCVWR and aforementioned 10 speed !!

Plus 500 horsepower to move it along

If you are going to dream might as well make it good. I would think Dodge would put turn signals in the outside mirrors? They should jump the horsepower up a bit?

I've got an idea for you: Buy two trucks, one a quad or standard cab, long bed dually. The other, a Mega. Same color, of course.

Cut both frames behind the cab, then put the dually half behind the mega, and the short bed onto the quad. Swap all wheels, drivshafts, exhaust (one section) unplug wiring harness at right point, and swap brake lines, fuel lines, and you've got your mega/dually.

Zero parts cost, zero paint, just frame labor. A body shop with an alignment jig, can do this in one day.

Only problem is, the VIN of the short bed will now read dually (for insurance and taxes).

Not an issue if you keep both for yourself though. Wife can drive the shortie.

You'd be better off getting 3 trucks, so you'd have 1 to drive around in until you get the other 2 put back together :-laf

Is there anything normal about this site?

I think the Dodge people are looking for the cheapest way out?If they would use common sense upgrades would be no problem.

If they can't put the 8' bed on the mega they can put the reg cab on the 160" frame and stretch the bed. Just short of a 10' bed.
