For those who have read the topics "trailer brakes beware"

Dexter Axle Co came through withe the replacement brake assemblies on time and were a pleasure to deal with.

All I can say is oh what a difference with the new braking system.

I still would like to caution other users of 96 -97 vintage to check those brakes... .

And I also adjusted the drum brakes of my 2001 Ram (11K miles)

Wow  adjust those babies too  What a difference.

I have bought axles from dexter. They were really cheasey when they slapped a tiny bit of greaes on the bearings. I had one sieze up. The other rusted beond recognition. Make sure they are greaesed before if you install those dexters.

don't assume anything coming out of the dexter factory is good to go. we are looking at assembly line process here and bearings are not properly packed and drum surfaces look like a coarse cut phonograph record. they do a good job of warrenty on their products however---Sam

Dexter only supplied the brake drum assemblies.

I packed the bearing myself and I used Amsoil High Temperature grease :)

I did the labor myself so I am sure the job is done to my satisfaction
