Utah Guys: Good diesel friendly dyno in SLC?

I want to thank DavidTD (in GA. ) for the 'alert' to the DHRA racing, last night, in Surprize, AZ. Also, received a phone call from a friend (Mark) regarding the racing.

Went with another friend who had never been to diesel drags. He couldn't believe that these trucks could run that fast. Was amazed!!!

Normally, we don't get a big turnout for diesel events, here in AZ. I didn't count, but I would imagine there may have been about 20, maybe a bit more, trucks that showed up. One Duramax, a couple of Fords & the rest, Dodges. Quite a few trucks with stacks. More stacks than I've ever seen in AZ.

Richard "Maddog" Madsen was there with his Dyno. However, I didn't see anyone use it. Hope he did get some business.

I stayed for about 5 hours & had a good time.

The diesels put on a good show with lots of smoke, in some instances.

Thanks, again, for letting me know about the racing. I've driven out to IN. twice (Scheid's Diesel Extravaganza in Terra Haute & Thunder in Muncie), CA. events & May Madness to see this kind of stuff & I didn't know about this one, in my own backyard, til just the other day.

Dang,
I missed another opportunity to meet you Joe. We were at a benefit for the local rodeo grounds. Next trip, eh??

Joe we had a blast too. I can't believe how late it got in such a hurry.

DavidTD,

Did you come all the out here for the races, from GA. ?

TFucili,

How do you like Wickenburg, so far? If you want to go to a very good event, try May Madness, in Parumph, NV. It will go from April 30- May 5, '07. Lots more trucks & people come from all over the US & Canada.

Joe,

We are liking it just fine. It is pretty much just what I had expected, pretty old fashioned and laid back. We live fairly simply(excepting my toys) and the further I am from malls, and Marts the better. I just hope they can keep some of the developers away. Our son is 8 and he has adjusted extremely well and likes his new school, so that was a major hurdle we cleared. I had planned to take a couple months off to shake off a serious case of burn-out, but after only a couple weeks I've already got ants in my pants:confused: . I'll be looking for work here pretty shortly. I don't plan, at least in the short term, to run my own business again.

DavidTD,

Sorry I missed you guys. Especially, Dieter (from Michigan). I, too, am originally from MI. (the Detroit area). I, also, brought a friend along that just moved to AZ from MI. He's not a diesel guy but, was very impressed in how fast these trucks can go. He was an auto design draftsman, back there, all his life.

Sorry there weren't more trucks at the drags. Events like May Madness, Thunder @ IRP & Shied's Diesel Extravaganza (in Terra Haute, IN. ) can gather up to 1500 trucks for an event. Much bigger interest in diesel performance in the IN. area. It's like the 'center of the universe' for diesels.

We have a lot of diesel trucks, here in AZ. but, many are used for work, RV'ing, etc. There are quite a few higher performance diesels, here but, we're not organized as an interest group.

If you guys can make it to May Madness, it's a really good event. I've gone every year since 2002 & always have a great time. People come in from all over the country for it.

TFucili,

Sorry you couldn't make it. I would have liked to meet you. You, also, might consider May Madness.

Glad you like Wickenburg, AZ. That's one heck of a nice town & really pretty country. I'd love to live there. And, you're really not that far from Phoenix & all it has to offer (about 45/50 miles). Quite a bit of Western History in that area.

I wish I could make it to May Madness. I will fly in Wednesday night and spend Thursday and Friday at the track in Vegas getting ready for Saturday and Sunday. :{ But you are correct, May Madness is a great event and everyone should do their best to support it. Just think, a week of diesel activities in Vegas.

I can't believe that Speedworld had Diesel Drags and I missed it. I'm in Surprise and can hear the track on a clear night.

Anyone know of a shop in the area where I can get a fuel pressure gauge installed.

It's easy to miss a diesel drag race. Turbos keep them so quiet, you're hard-pressed to tell when they run when you're *at* the track!

So the next time you don't hear anything at Speedworld, get on over there, because there's probably a diesel race goin' on! :D
