Competition Truck "shudders"? under acceleration

Im also a member of the Buick GS club (proud grand national owner) and race at beech bend in bowling green kentucky. I noticed on the DHRA site a race is scheduled at this track for may 17th i'd love to race my truck i'll already be there for the GS nationals . Only problem is the final and main buick race is also on may 17th , just curious if this could be right , or maybe a schedule error. The GS nationals is may 13 - 17. Thanks for any info on this.

Wayne,

I called Dallas today. The Buick races are scheduled for April 29th - May 3rd. The DHRA is still scheduled for May 17th. See you there!

OK I just called the GSCA guys and the race is still May13-17th for this year. They have no plans on rescheduling according to the guys I talked to. This could pose a problem because when the Buicks converge on BG there are no hotel rooms available. If this is the case that would be great. My 2 favorite interests racing at the same track. I guess the trucks would be racing Sat. after the Nats were over with. Got to get those reservations in.

Sounds like the GSCA guys and the Beech Bend folks need to get together to me.

(GSCA)It's the 13th-17th:-{} It's the 29th-3rd (BBRP)

Anyway, here is Beech Bend's schedule on their website. Of course we are the EHRA now????

I'll call the club pres tomorrow but I've never seen the GSCA change their dates this late in the game. Too many people involved. The GS Nats regularly have over 10,000 Buick folks there.

The GS Nationals also had a number of sub 8-second 1/4 mile passes... . all with oddfire twin turbo V-6's. Gotta love that.

I have friends that go but I never have made it to one..... hrmmm... maybe this year.

You are seeing how much weight the DHRA has to throw around already!:-laf

sub-8 1/4 milers! The lil' red cummins express may have competition!

Actually there have been several even fire motors run in the 7s. All of the production Grand National engines are even fire. I'm not real sure what the off-center stage 2 276 inch blocks are. My Dad's 87 T-type has never had the valve covers off the motor and runs mid 11s in the 1/4 with only external bolt-ons and a better Turbo of course. I've never been able to pry myself away from the old GS Buicks. In 2001 we took a car that I built the engine on and took 2nd place in the RM class.

I just got off the phone with Rich at the GSCA and he assured me that they already had the contract signed for the 13th through the 17th and we may even have some special races set up with the guys from the ZR1 club that are there the Saturday before we arrive. It would be awesome to have the DHRA race after the GS Nats. I could knock out 2 birds with one shot. All of those turbo's in one place may deplete the atmosphere of pressure.

The motors may have been even-fire, but it is a well known fact that the OEM block will only take you to high-9's before it grenades.

The twin-turbo odd-fire engines are a thing of beauty - they sound almost as mean as a modified Detroit... ...

Okay, well, because of this thread we brought to the track's attention that they had made a big mistake. I tried to incorporate our race the evening after the Buick race but Dallas said they have a huge mess they are trying to clean up afterwards. He thought that might interfer with the quality of race we would have. Also, they probably pack the campground and hotels in the area and the GLTDR has a campout planned that weekend in that campground.

SO, the DHRA race has been moved to April 26, 2003 with the rain date as May 3. Both BBRP and the DHRA websites will be updated as soon as possible, Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Funny you say that WAYNE, David (Division 2) just told me today that he had a race scheduled at Bradenton, he'll post more soon.

Now that would be sweet , there's at least eight of us from south Fl. with CTD's that would race in an event there.

BTW thanks for the help in getting all this sorted out.
