Competition Winter Racing Anyone??

Competition Bully dog Sponsered competition

October 4 Great Lakes Dragway Union Grove, WI. Sounds like Huckstorf DIS is interested in doing something in conjunction with this race so we should start making plans. I know the GLTDR is making this a camping event. Any recommended campgrounds?

Eric, Bong State recreational area is very close to Great Lakes Dragaway. There are two campgrounds located there:http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/land/parks/specific/bong/. I'm about 5 miles from Great Lakes Dragaway. Let me know if I can be of any help. Last year, we had a bombing session at my house about the same time, so if anyone is interested, maybe we can do it again this year. I will be in touch with John and Mark Huckstorf to see what they have planned. . I just mailed in my membership application for the GLTDR:D :D

Oh great, just north of chicago. I hope they build a bridge from Michigan to Millwakee so I don't have to drive through that ludicrous city. Have the roads in chicago changed any? I mean for the better. :D

Bridge

Hey Rob, how about a bridge that moves? Thinking of the S. S. Badger, the car ferry (damn I hate that word) car boat from Ludington to Manitowoc. Not cheap, but it is an alternative.

Guess I should practice my R/T's if I'm gonna go racin' this year.

Hey Blackcloud, I need a pit crew, PM me please, we need to talk trannies. I have a tax return comin'.

Eric, are rookies and fun racers allowed in the DHRA? Just a stocker here but had a blast in Muncie runnin' on the strip. Thinkin' about using my vacation time to do a little racin' this summer.

Absolutely! Most of those that will be racing are rookies. You will get better as you go and next thing you know, PAYDAY!

Rob, I tried to get Chicago shut down for the day, I even told them I knew you, but no. I thought I had more pull than that but oh well:confused:

Dang Eric, first you dump the manual in favor of a slushbox, now you can't even close down a city, I'm loosin' more and more respect for you every day. :D ;)

Oh well, I'll still get there somehow... ... ... Howard, get that sundial ready!

That is great news, DHRA attending my home track!!... I always attend the Snowmobile National race that is usually the third week in Oct and even plan to run IHRA again this year at DaGrove, so even if i don't race the truck I'll race the sled(s). Usually on these kind of "special" races they also let "fun runs" in also, so I'd expect cars to be there to. And for you guys that have not been there in awhile, the last few years they have been making some improvements, for example, drag strip was repaved last year (it did need it)

AS for the ferry, check into the dates they are running. They do not run all year long, but it would be a good option for you MI guys.

Group purchase on ferry rides? Where's McElrath when we need him?:D

Hey Johnrv4, could you scope us out what you think might be the best place to have the campout? I have an email in to the track manager seeing if we can camp at the track (always fun!). Let me know what you and Kujo find out.

I'll check out what other campgrounds are nearby. There are a few private campgrounds also, I'll see what I can come up with for options. I was up to Huckstorf's visiting yesterday(spent too much time bs'ing), and they said they would like to maybe have a open house/cookout on that Friday night or whatever might work.

The dragstrip has campgrounds! That would be nice so we can eat cheap for lunch! And we can sleep in!;) Can you check it out for us and let us know if it is accomodating or not. Thanks!

I was gonna mention that but figure you guys would want real campgrounds as in one that got full hookups and one that you can have a campfire. They will let you stay overnight, but guys that do are usually racing the whole w/e or leave in the morning and I'm sure some of the TDR guys will make it a long w/e so a real campground would be needed. Altho, I have heard of some wild times about overnight at the track so it can be possible. AS for eating cheap, you can cook out there no prob, I think I have eaten there once in all the times we have gone. Even though we don't bring the grill like the other guys, the George Foreman works great since power is available.

Another plus with the Bong Rec Area is you can bring your ATVs and cruise one of the circuits and I'm sure there is other things to do there as well. Johnrv4 will know best about that place

Years ago,I had camped at Bong Recreational Area with some friends over the course of the summer. It is a nice family type place, but they have absolutely no tollerance for hot rodding and screwing around inside the park. Wanna know why?The park is run and controled by the DNR,and they have no sence of humor. Just a warning to the guys who have problems controling themselves(and their right foot). I'm not trying to scare anyone off, just giving a fair warning.

Most usually keep the hot rodding to the track. Noone wants to break before the competition! Great heads up though!
