The folks at DHRA have been working tirelessly on getting the 2005 season ready. We are about to announce our new series sponsor, yes, we have a MAJOR sponsor this year for both the Drag Racing Series and Sled Pulling Series.
Drag Racing Series- Divisions are out, member tracks are in!
The drag racing point's series will be different for 2005. Instead of traveling in a geographic area to earn points, racers will now be able to go to one track for all of their points. Sometimes 8 to 10 hour trips were required for a racer to attend a points race. Now that has been eliminated to make way for more participation. The tracks will be in charge of keeping points, setting race dates, and running the races. The tracks will be required to hold no less than 5 races during the season. This will be ET Bracket racing only. DHRA membership will not be required, but the track champions that are DHRA members will enjoy extra purse money, and a chance to compete for the national title. For more information regarding the new drag racing series format, or if you want us to send your local track a member track proposal; email Andy Sebek at -- email address removed --
Tracks that are already on board:
Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove, WI
US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, MI
Beech Bend Park in Bowling Green, KY
San Antonio Raceway in San Antonio, TX
Please give the tracks some time to get their schedules arranged and on their website.
Pro Street Shootout:
Come watch diesel racing greats such as Darren Morrison, Jeff Garmon, Richard Madsen and TS Performance Racing battle it out Heads up style. The Pro Street class will be visiting 6 venues in 2005 and $30,000 cash! Season begins in Bowling Green, KY May 7th. For rules and details, visit our website.
Sled Pulling Series- Our inagural year for a series!
10 events across the Midwest. Three re-vamped classes will fight it out for $31,750 in purse money! Gene is still ironing out details on the schedule. To keep up to date with the sled pulling series, contact Gene Mohney at -- email address removed --
It's shaping up to be an exciting year for diesel motorsports! We will be debuting a new website look and feel in just a couple of weeks with all of the press releases and new information.
