Diablo downloader and puck combo

I just got my downloader and puck today. The puck is giving me some problems as it causes the truck to run pretty rough and surge in both the 60 and 90 HP modes. The Diablo web site's forum gives a good amount of info on the pucks for the early '04 trucks. It seems that some trucks work better with the '03 version of the puck. I cannot get that resolved until after the holiday. The downloader works well. No worries. I guess I'll get to the point. Can I stack the Diablo downloader with my Quad ZXT box. I really like the quad box. It is the best pressure box I have used on this truck. If it won't cause any problems stacking these I'll get the Puck replaced and sold or returned.

03 and early 04 CR's are the same, some of them were SO's, some were HO's.



(250hp vs. 305hp)I know you know that. Is it possible you have a puck for a 04. 5?



As far as stacking the Diablo downloader with the Quad pressure box, go easy, little increments at a time. Nothing is tried and true, every truck is different.



I thought the Diablo downloader and the puck were one of the "up and comming" stack out there?



I would contact Diablo before you give up... maybe something simple.

I don't intend to give up yet although I am a bit disapointed that the puck doesn't work. I have to wait until Tuesday to talk to the tech guys at the vendor that I bought it from. I remember seeing a signature of another member that had the downloader and quad stack. I can't remember who it was now. The downloader gives good smooth power by itself on the 100 hp setting. I'm going to try the top setting today and see how that drives. EGT is lower with normal driving, but they climb somewhat quicker than before. Nothing to high that I have seen yet.

Update and questions

I'm getting the puck replaced, but while waiting I have been using the quad zxt with the downloader on 100 hp setting. It pulls well on the bottom then flattens out mid range. I don't fel good about jumping on it yet as i haven't really got a good comination of settings yet. Overall the quad box does better than the diablo does on any setting. The extreme setting was nothing to write about. I am starting to wonder if I have a blown relief valve. I may go and get a correct length grade 8 bolt and cap it to see if there is a difference. Does anyone know if the diablo downloader alters the timming? I know the quad zxt is supposed to. My truck hates extra timing, I tried the tone ring mod and got less power at the top end. I guess I could mod the tone ring the other way and pull some timming out that way. Any opinions or guesses?
