Diablo Power puck

well, I have decided on which fueling module to get. I decided on the Power Puck due to the ability to reprogram in with a custom program of my choice... . up to 100 hp. I already have a boost module and elbow, so the Edge EZ was out and the VA was not reprogramable. The manufacturers of the Puck have also been around for 20 years making electronics for european cars, so this should be a good product. I will keep you all posted on the results of the fun. I should have some new truck pics on my site soon, so stay tuned.

Does anyone have any info on the Power Puck? I am just curious as to how it is capable of delivering up to 100hp. Does it pierce the fuel pump wire?

No it does not pierce the fuel pump wire, and info is hard to come buy. there is one dyno graph of the power out there, but its wrong.

The Power Puck is the same "concept" as the VA, EZ, DDTM, Bully Torque Dog etc or whatever else you wanna call it.

It will be limited by the VP44 because uses a data port, where as on the heavy fueling boxes attach to the pump wire to change the signal (goin around the VP44 limitations).

I think 100hp at the rear wheels gain is a bit far fetched 50 to 75 tops.

The Puck plugs in like the VA box. 100 extra hp should be easy to do, especially at higher rpm: The Puck gives 160 ft*lbf more at 1900 (so they say) which equals 240 hp and 665 ft lbf at that rpm (this would be on a stock ETH). If the torque increase were extended to 2700 rpm, then we would have 342 hp, and 665 ft*lbf at that rpm. Sounds great to me!

Remember that on Crank and Chrome (or was it Shadetree Mechanic?) that they said the BD plug and play added 100 flywheel hp and 160 ft/lbs at the rear wheels . . . . You can play with numbers!

The reason that I was asking for info on the Power puck. . was just that I didn't see how it can give you a 100hp gain. That number seems very steep.

Not only that, but most people don't realize how limited the data port is in adjusting fuel on our VP44.

The puck WILL NOT deliver the kind of power gains all throught the rpm range that it can deliver between 1500 and 1900 rpm. It will do lucky to give 30 to 35 horse on the top end. None of the Can-bus boxes can do any better because of the limitations of the VP44 cpu. The EZ delivers the maximum amount of power any of these boxes are able to do. Period. I've seen several dyno runs where the EZ has given over 100 hp in the lower rpm ranges, but it too is limited at the top. For ETC owners the box to have will be the new Edge Comp which combines the EZ with the PE.

No. . No... No... . I am very Satisfied with my DD2s, I wouldn't trade them for the world. I was just curious as to with the limitations of the VP44 how the puck could deliver that much power. Sounds like a marketing fluke to me.

As for the DD3's, in this high altitude... I don't think they would be a good idea. I'd probably look funny, people seeing this Dodge pickup smokin like a big rig. . LOL. They would probably think something was wrong with my truck. . ha ha ha

With my on demand smoke switch, I can already bury the car behind me in my black haze. . so I'd hate to see what the DD3s would do here... LMAO

The two different types of boxes do simply different things that's all.

The can-bus types stay within the timing limits, the other ones don't.

Pump limit? If there was such a thing, none of the "boxes" would be able to overcome it. The pump is a "dumb" unit, and it does what the ECM tells it..... nothing more.

Correct me if I am wrong. The VP44 is a rotary piston pump. The pump volume is controled by the angle of the swashplate and the timing is controled by the position of the stator.
If there was an inlet valve to control fuel volume into the cylinders the pump would cavitate once the valve was shut and the piston was on the downstroke (low power and idle conditions) This would grenade any positive displacement pump (I have seen it happen)
So I would conclude that the only limit on the maximum amount of fuel the pump can deliver would be mechanical. Modification or amplification of the control signal to the pump will adjust fuel delivery to the maximun volume available from the pump.
If timing is not adjusted accordingly the extra fuel will be injected retarded and cause higher EGT due to incomplete combustion in the combustion chamber.
