Well I my guess is that no one has because they are not out yet, but guess what I talked to them and they told me that it will be released soon and gave me a part number.

I called summit Racing and they did not have it but you could order it and get it in about a week.

It is a duration and timing box, it delivers 50 hp and 150 lb ft torque with low egt's according to them.

I Have a Power Puck and Diablo downloader on my '05

There is a definite HP & Torque increase with the Puck in high mode.

In tow mode the is some surging when decelerating and a slight power feel.

It increases rail pressure ( according to the Dodge Mechanic ) and I think boost pressure ( my own supposition ).

I have also seen a MPG increase, although I haven't calculated it.

I have just noticed i use about 1/8 of a tank less on trips to VA from PA.

I have an 04 (305/555) dually... ordered my puck thru Thorobred Diesel and installed it. At 50 it had a stutter and 90 it screamed along. Called Diablo and they sent repacement and the second puck did the same thing... suttered in 50 setting. Sent it back. Diablo is working the problem and will supply a new one when sorted out... looks like they had a bad run on electronics and are testing the stock.

I ran it in 90 up the coast from LA to Tacoma, WA with my camper on... driving was a dream, but I worried about the autotrans so didn't get on it and kept the shifts at 2000rpm... running at 70 to 80 much of the way on I-5... didn't see fuel milage increase, but that was probably from my speed. I also changed my exhaust to 4' all the way and a Donaldson muff and installed a cool intake system from www.psbuick.com.

I do notice that my fuel econ is better with those intake/exhaust changes and I am waiting for the return on my Power puck!

I have an '05 and have a Power Puck for an '05.

I have had no problems with the Puck.

Now the Diablo Predator is another story.

It works fine except there is a bug in the software that prevents the heaters from working when they should. Diablo's tech support recommended putting back the factory tune in winter. They are working on the bug and do not know when they will have the fix.

Are you talking about the grid heaters... ? If so, I have the same problem and been trying to troubleshoot it for a few weeks now to no avail. I figured it was the Predator. If that's the only problem, I can live with it, I guess. Be nice if they fixed it though... Keep me posted if you can. Thanks.

05 Puck

Glad you gentleman are all keeping up with the DiabloSport products for your Dodge Cummins!

As far as the 2005 Puck (D7158) is concerned, we just released it this week. Now I have heard some people have been selling our older '04 puck (the D7157) for '05 applications and it works great. Others I have heard are having surging issues, and strange drivability. I'm not sure why some work and some don't, but remember that those pucks weren't designed for the '05s!

As far as the Predator and the cold start issues, this should be something we address when we release our tuner for the '06-'07 5. 9L Dodge Cummins which will be available early next year. I would imagine while they are working on that tool, they will be getting an update together for the older one as well. So hold tight guys, we'll have something soon!

Can you tell us what exactly the PowerPuck does? Is it pressure, timing, etc. I can't see it being duration as Predator has plenty of that... . :)

Yeah it would be nice to hear how it makes it's power! I have talked to your tech's and I never got a straight answer about the pressure issue, they would tell me that they did not directly raise the rail pressure, it was raised by the duration or something like that . I could not get it in my lil' brain how you could open the injector for a longer period of time and that cause the pressure to go up.

Some or a lot of us just want a small amount of extra power to tow with and not have to re-invent the wheel to get it done. :-laf

Thanks!

The DiabloSport PowerPuck is mostly a fuel box- it modifies fuel and pulse width. It does not add any timing. However, the tune in the Predator called the "puck tune" is designed specially to work with the fuel that the puck can add on the fly. The Predator adds timing and fuel. The Fuel rail Pressure is increased indirectly as a result of the over all power increase.

This sounds bad and I hate to say it this way but I think what they are saying is that they do jack up the pressure but they have a creative way around saying that they do.

Can you just give it to us straight up or at least explain it so that we can understand it?

How can the pressure be raised indirectly and does it cause or can it cause the same problems as directly raising the pressure?

Your product sounds like it is a good product but the way that your answering our questions does raise some concern.

When I was considering both units as a package to install in my truck I called their tech line and asked a lot of questions. They were unable to explain their product and how it would function in my truck, or change the functions of my truck in programming. I have a couple friends who have the pucks in older models than mine who are satisfied with the performance gains, I have a couple friends who are not-surging issues, etc. I did have the pair on order via a supplier of their products, and was in a holding pattern waiting for the 06 model products to be released. The more I thought about the answers I got from the tech line, and the answers I did not get, along with the rail pressure questions that seemed odd, I decided to go with other products. Just my 2 cents.

I depend on my truck for daily transpertation and also to make a living. does anybody know how much pressure is to much? The stock pressure is around 23000 or so I hear, is a couple more thousand all you should run and if so who's got what we need to savely do the job?

Start reading the sigs, you will get a real good idea of what's out there being used on what year trucks. Also, take the time to read the posts regarding the different boxes available. Call the tech lines for them and ask questions. Most of all take note as to which suppliers or manufacturers get involved and give support. You will soon figure out what you want and also who to deal with regarding your purchase.

Well, since the Puck in my '05 was not meant for an '05, is there a way I can exchange it for an '05? I have expereinced surging in tow mode.
