The funds were not credited back. See earlier post. The cc company said they determined there was "no error" on Dodge dealers part. Who knows what Dodge said on their side of this.... that's why I need to pursue this further.

I assume that the Credit Card you used was not American Express??

Just for future reference to anyone following this thread...

American Express will fight like a Momma Bear defending her cubs for the customer....you would have this behind you had it been an AMEX charge....I have one that I use just for situations such as yours....

This is why I use my debit card less and less... The liability risk is getting too great for thieves and since you're paying with your money its hard to contest anything.

I refuse to get one.

After watching repeated episodes with employees and family alike involving breached data and other drama there is no way...

Plus having motels and gas stations tie up some of your funds for a couple days waiting for a transaction to finalize...again, no way..

Green card was my first, and what I use for purchases like this. When Costco divested itself from Amex, that was a big hit.

They can hack a cc the same as a bank card. And when/if they do, it's insured just the same.
Online purchases are another thing, PayPal or Amazon are about the only way I buy anything online.

No more debit card for us either. My wife’s was hacked. Luckily it was from our local bank and they saw that it was used for fuel in Montreal. They called us immediately but it was a month before the funds were returned to her account.

If it took a month to get unauthorized funds back, I'd find another bank. Thats just Poor banking policies.

International fraud has its own set of rules. I’m just greatful the bank saw the location and called to confirm the purchase that same day. How long would it take your bank to call you just to verify an $85 charge?

Well as I was suspecting FCA didn't call back as they said (not surprised one bit). Tomorrow I will call and raise a little hell until I get through and ask for a higher up since these "associates" don't get anything done.. tsk tsk...

Immediately. And the two times its happened (once to me, once to my wife) funds never left the account. They showed as a pending charge for 1 or two days but was never deducted from my available balance. This a small, locally owned bank.
Ever since they went chipped - 4 or 5 years ago - we've not had any problems.

Bill, sorry for the derail. Hopefully things work to your satisfaction.

What country was the stolen debit info used in?

This is just crazy. I called FCA today and got another new (6th one now) "associate" to talk to on my case. Amazingly they said my phone # and email was not on file (huh?). They said there was still an open case with the information in question sent to their tech. dept. They confirmed though that this was not an issue related to FCA. They said it was a closed case also as the Dodge dealer service manager who was on the case said she verified this conversion was for my truck and the dealer said I had a 24 valve!?!. WOW. I called their parts dept. and gave my VIN and again they said they confirmed this conversion was for the 12 AND 24 valve engine. This is getting stupider by the minute. Why would this dealer and 2 other local ones show this conversion but others in the US say there's no such conversion for the 12 valve? Can we all agree to 100% accuracy there was never a conversion or can it actually be done per the pdf showing a 24 valve engine? This makes no sense. Next step is file complaint to BBB and see what the response is... I'm baffled!...

Probably a waste of time. But I might try a call to your states atty general's office. If you catch them in a good mood, maybe they would help.

I will hit them at every angle possible at this point. I will file a complaint with BBB and contact the attorney's general office.

I can’t believe that the dealership didn’t suck it up. They made a mistake, it happens.

Difference being some admit it and step up., some don’t...
