Ok,
so I went up to Piers this weekend and wasn't thrilled with my dyno numbers. Not the dynos fault, but I was trying to figure out the why.
Anyway, part of the reason was too low tire pressure. The first runs resulted in superheating the tread and making it slick. Then, the tires slipped. So, the straps were tightened even more pulling the tire out of shape and down between the rollers. Lesson learned. Piers dyno, inflate those tires. Even with all that, I don't believe that adversly affected my numbers.
That leads me to the next issue. My truck has had a little "miss" when hard on the fuel. This has been there for well over a year. I have always thought it was odd that I don't have any heat issues and it seems to be harder and harder to get to 1250 and boost is off.
Here's what I think it is. VP44. Is there a way to test it on the truck, or do I need to pull it and have it thrown on a test stand? This is my first, best guess. I get no codes pointing this direction, just an edjucated guess. And where could I get it properly tested in the Tacoma area?
Secondly, it could be the ECM. I could swap ECMs with another truck that I know is good and test.
The turbo could have an issue but this does not seem like surge. I will throw the little HY on it and test it just to be sure.
I changed the MAP last week after getting a code. Also, the comp was changed last week and no help there either.
Fluids are all new and the air filter is fine. Problem is there even without the filter in place.
And the very thing I thought started all this. The weak lift pumps, has been corrected and I have better pressure than ever. I have gone through multiple lift pumps, and this may have caused the VP to be hurt at some point.
So, what is the proper diagnostic procedure? And where is my best price on a pump. I'm gonna call Lenny and see if I can get some diagnostic time on the dyno. But, there is no sense throwing good money after bad.
Thanks for taking the time to help me figure this out!!
