Hey guys, well, I installed the 370's last week. I have a 250 TST plate in and I am hitting a wall at 39 to 40 psi, seems like I am running out of fuel at top end I know I have the small delivery valves, but it's also falling on it's face at 3000 rpm, but it pulls hard until then, I am heading to Dave Mitchell's next Thursday and wanted to know what you guys think I should get done? The appointment is set to have my timing done, what should I pick up to install at the house, delivery valves or the govenor spring kit? or both... lol. . And what kinds of boost are you guys hitting with these installed. 45... . 50... . 55????? Thanks. Be good.

Smokin,

I posted several months ago about a boost brick wall I was experiencing at 39-40 psi with my stock turbo. I have a '94 like yourself. I got 39 psi with stock pump, slid plate and stock 160 hp injectors. I added Diamond B's and propane and still couldn't get over the 40 psi mark.

The solution for me was delivery valves. I got mine from Piers himself. I could then hit 46 psi in second gear (auto). I might have seen 47 a time or two, but the EGT's were climbing so quickly at that fueling level that I always had to back out of it.

I'm still using the stock turbo, but have turned the fueling down to help my 3rd auto transmission's life expectancy.

I can help with your 3000 rpm limit also. It appears to be a problem with the early year models. I have 3 CTD's in the family now and the modified '97 will rip to 3000 rpms more freely than my '94 with all the mods including Pier's governor springs. The '97 still has stock governor settings.

I used to think it was the small turbo choking the motor in the upper RPMs, but the '97 proves me wrong daily. #ad

Our pumps aren't as capable as the later year models. Even with a governor spring kit, delivery valves, cam plates, and AFC kits. I still have the same loss of power in the upper RPMs.

If you've noticed the RPM limit has steadily increased since the P7100 motor was introduced. I've read about minor internal changes through the years (i. e. camshafts) to help the motor operate at the higher governed speeds.

The timing advance will help some, but there are other factors playing against us early model drivers.
