any tips for telling true millage on engine?

Anybody know the part number for the spring that is under the boost diaphram in our pumps?

The one in my son's 89 conversion engine is MIA and I need a replacement now that the Cummins powered S-10 is up and running!!! :eek:

Yes... the mini beast screams..... and engine is still stock... ... for the moment.

But I think we should put the spring back in.

If anyone has their DD pin kits (sorry I brought that one up, to say the least), the springs were a little softer than stock; maybe they could send one to ya. Just a thought.

I'm still wondering that the deal is with the spring, tighter, softer, absent?? Was reading in the archives and found myself over on another site, where I read about KTA-Cummins saying none of his trucks have afc springs... ?
 
The Bosch parts list shows 3 springs, all labelled "compression spring" for the AFC assembly.



They are:

1. 464. 618. 705

1. 464. 618. 703

1. 464. 618. 651



Now unfortunately I don't have my schematics here to show which is the later model (green/red) which is the stiffer of the springs.

The other spring I have tested is a silver color only and I found it to be softer in it's spring rate... as for the 3rd one, I have no experience with that one...

I think my 89's spring is silver in color? Maybe the early ones are that color? Guess I need to call DP and chat with him on the purpose of the spring huh... :D

Thanks for all the info and replies.

Greenleaf said he has a spare he'll send me. He said it's the lighter tension one, so you know I'll try it out first and see how it reacts compared to mine.

Yeah, you never called me back after I returned your call. The spring is to cut low end smoke :-laf :rolleyes:
